Harris County Precinct 2, in partnership with the Near Northside Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 21), is Reimagining Hogan Street to improve mobility, prioritize safety improvements and integrate community input into the design alternatives.

The Hogan Street Project is a 1.6-mile improvement initiative between I-45 and I-69 to create an inclusive, resilient and safe corridor for all users, including vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

The community is invited to attend the second community meeting on Wednesday, August 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Leonel Castillo Community Center (2101 South St., Houston 77009).

The Quitman Pedestrian-Transit Improvements Project is GNMD's capital infrastructure project in partnership with multiple partners from the City of Houston, METRO, Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia and Hardy TIRZ 21.

It includes improvements to the pedestrian realm, such as ADA accessible sidewalks and ramps, landscaping, solar lights and more. The streetscape improvements along Quitman Street will enhance the sense of place and preserve the cultural fabric by augmenting the overall quality of the area. The project extends along 1.5 miles of Quitman Street from west of Houston Avenue to west of Elysian Street.

The Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 5) is working with landscape architects at SWA Group to design and build near-term improvements within Stude Park. The budget is limited, and the playground is a key item in addition to overall improvements in Stude Park's connectivity, usability and safety.

As Let's Play Houston moves forward, they would like to give a huge shoutout to the Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD). As our main partner and stewards of all parks in the Let's Play Houston initiative, Houston Parks Board continuously works closely with the HPARD team every step of the way. We would also like to share our thanks and appreciation to all vendors, partners, community groups, churches, schools, etc., for their support of "Let's Play Houston."

In addition to attending events, 963 park users and community members shared feedback through a survey.

NEXT STEPS!

Over the next six to eight months, the design team will use the survey data as a guide during the design process. Houston Parks Board will update council members, community leaders and community members as design choices are being solidified.
