2018-19 Theme Verse:
Follow God

Referencing  John 8:12, where Jesus states:  “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life,”  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered one of his most poignant and memorable quotes. Dr. King said: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” When reading this quote through the lens of Scripture, John 8:12 shows us that the darkness in a person’s heart, and the spiritual emptiness humans have, can only be driven out through the power of Jesus.  We can try in every other way to break out of this darkness, but it will never work. Without Jesus we are stumbling around blindly in the dark. But, here is the greatest news in human history:  Jesus IS light.  Jesus IS love. And Jesus drives out all darkness . The believer in Christ, then, cannot walk in darkness because Jesus has overwhelmed and conquered it. I am eternally grateful for this… and I pray that you and your family are too.
