Follow God
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27.
Have you ever been to Costco (or any large store) with your kids only to have one of them wander off and wind up missing? The panic and the terror that ensues as a parent is awful. (I cannot confirm nor deny if this has ever happened to me with one of my children.) So, what would I do in this moment? We have a family whistle! It is unique to our family, and when our kids hear it, they know right where Mom or Dad is, and they know to come quickly to us.
This is kind of how I see John 10:27. As the Father’s sheep, we need to recognize His voice in the crowd, go to Him, and then follow along with Him. The goal is to not wander off, but to remain in His presence. However, whenever we do wander, His voice is constant, and we can easily recognize it because we know Him and because He knows us. In what ways do you hear God’s voice? Is it through Scripture, worship, quietness, or any other means? Are you listening for His voice? Are you ready to follow when you hear it?
In Christ, Ben Warner, MSHS Principal

This past Wednesday 4th Graders at RCE came together to pack shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. With the Lord's provision, 45 boxes are packed with love, a letter from the student who packed the box, and the power of the Lord to transform the life of the child who receives their box. GOD IS GOOD!

After our first (imaginary) groups of colonists set sail and starved to death part way across the Atlantic Ocean, the 5th graders regrouped, thought through what was needed for their colonists to be successful, and one group of colonists is almost ready to land in the New World while the other 3 are all at least half way there!

In two days of feasting, our elementary campus celebrated the season of “Thanks” with their annual Harvest Day Feasts. Students sat with their class and were able to invite two guests to join. Both traditional Thanksgiving dishes such as turkey and stuffing, along with kid-friendly lunch staples like macaroni and cheese and pizza were brought in potluck style. Nearly 1,000 kids and adults enjoyed the feast and the special community we share at RCS was apparent to all.

Christmas Encouragement Letters
|
|
A long-standing tradition at RCS during the Christmas season has been for the superintendent to invite our parents to say "thank you" to everyone who ministers to their child at our school. Please take a moment (maybe during the Thanksgiving Break?!?) to write an encouraging note and/or make a contribution to the Faculty/Staff Christmas Gift Fund.
You can use the Christmas Encouragement Letter template to write a word of appreciation to our teachers and staff individually or collectively. They love hearing from students and parents, and it is a treasured tradition from year to year. You can write a personal note online, using the web form and/or download our Christmas letter template for you and your child to write. We look forward to hearing from you!

Come enjoy the sounds of Christmas as our music programs, elementary through high school, perform. The concert takes place at Redwood Chapel Community Church in the Worship Center on

We look forward to celebrating our Savior's birth together as we kick off the Christmas season through music!

A Helpful Note:
What to Expect After Thanksgiving Break
|
|
After Thanksgiving, we often feel the final few weeks of the semester fly by! December 19th is the last day of the second quarter, and Christmas break runs from 12/20 through 1/4. Please check the calendar often at www.rcs.edu/calendar, but here are some things to be ready for when school resumes on the 26th:
RCE:
Elementary students will enjoy another opportunity to give in our annual Harbor House Toy & Food Drive which runs 11/26 through 11/30. We will collect clothes and food for our local shelter (Oakland). More details are included in this newsletter and on Facebook Family Connect. Please consider donating over the Thanksgiving break (as the turn-in day will arrive quickly that first week we are back)!
We also invite all parents to both the school-wide Christmas Concert on Monday, 12/3, at
6:00pm and the RCE Christmas Chapel on 12/7 at 9:00am (both events are in the Worship Center).
MSHS:
Middle School Students are welcome to invite a friend to the MSHS Shadow Day on 12/12. Please contact [email protected] if your student is interested. High School Students are also invited to invite a friend on this day.
The Final schedule will be published soon after Thanksgiving break, but please note that Final Exams will be Monday – Wednesday, December 17 – 19th. There are two Finals per day, the first beginning at 8:00am, and the second at 9:45am. The latest this day will end for high school students is 12:00pm. Students only need to attend the finals for classes they are taking, so please make note of the special driving needs during finals week.
Finally, we hope all students and parents will join us at the Annual Christmas Concert on Monday, 12/3, at 6:00pm at Redwood Chapel Community Church (RCE Campus) in the Worship Center.
