A founder of Bradford's Sorted project, Andy Milne, has been appointed by the Archbishop of York to lead a new Missional Youth Church Network (MYCN) beginning in the North of England. It is in joint partnership with Church Army and the Archbishop of York Youth Trust.
The vision of MYCN is to establish at least 30 missional youth churches (MYC) over the next five years, enabling 11-18 year olds to build community and discover faith in Jesus Christ.

A celebration of marriage and good health at St Mark’s, Harrogate, has featured on Davina McCall’s This Time Next Year TV programme. Pat Sutcliffe, a part-time consultant with Cambridge Weight Plan, Harrogate, pledged to lose five stone in 12 months following successful surgery for colonic cancer. And she timed her effort so she could also renew her wedding vows after 45 years of marriage to husband John.

Nurturing hope in a hurting world is the theme of this year’s Mothering Sunday liturgy, which has been specially written for the Mothers’ Union. “For 2019 Mothering Sunday liturgy has once more been written for us by the students of St. Mellitus College, London,” said diocesan MU President Jean Thurman. “We are encouraged to share this with clergy and on the MU website there are several really useful resources.”

A brand new five-session ecumenical course for discussion groups, which is ideal for Lent, has been written by Bishop of Leeds, Nick Baines.
Daring to see God Now
takes inspiration from the Gospel of Mark, in particular the narrative of Jesus ‘proclaiming the Good News of God’.

"Honorary Canons are faith ambassadors for the Diocese and its three Cathedrals
," says the Very Revd Jerry Lepine, Dean of Bradford: "I am delighted to welcome four new Canons - Revd Kathia Shoesmith, Revd Phil Stone, Revd Mike Cansdale and Revd Michael Wood," said Dean Jerry, after their installation. They are pictured with Bishop of Kirkstall, the Right Revd Paul Slater, who officiated at the service.

Deaf Christians and hearing friends have launched a
new service led entirely in British Sign Language
, but translated and voiced into English for hearing people. There was a good turnout at the first event held at Christ Church, Pellon, Halifax, which will now be repeated on the second Sunday evening of every month.

A striking
new kitchen and communal space
at St Matthew's, Chapel Allerton, has been officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Leeds. The £150,000 project was funded by loans from worshippers and grants from charitable bodies. It has provided an attractive curved kitchen and meeting area. A dementia cafe will be one of the many uses for the new facilities and other work undertaken in the re-ordering.

The interior of Ripon Cathedral is to be filled with
son et lumiere
, (sound and light) as part of a series of events designed to commemorate 50 years since a man first stood on the moon. Projections of the solar system will fill the building accompanied by a rendition of Holst’s The Planets on the magnificent Lewis organ during the event on March 15.

The Dean of Wakefield Cathedral, the Very Revd Simon Cowling
is inviting people to unite under its roof at a time of national uncertainty. In an open letter to people in Wakefield and beyond he writes: "We live in anxious times and the sources of that anxiety are manifold but have to do with an economic precariousness; a lack of confidence, a lack of trust in our political process, and an uncertainly about who we are as a nation."

"Simple Stitch for Wellbeing"
is a four week textiles course starting on Thursday, March 7, 10am - 12.30pm at Dewsbury Minster. Run by the Revd Anne Wood, it offers a gentle and mindful break from the usual pace of life.
