The diocese is being encouraged to pray for its new deacons and priests, being ordained at ongoing ‘Petertide’ services over the next few weeks. All the details of those being ordained, the areas where they will serve and the dates of the different services can found on the diocesan website.

People from across the diocese packed Ripon Cathedral to mark the Silver Anniversary of the ordination of women as priests in the Church of England. The special service was presided over by the Rt Revd Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds, and the Rt Revd Dr Helen-Ann Hartley, Bishop of Ripon, was the preacher.

Wellsprings Together - a joint venture between the Church Urban Fund and the Anglican Diocese of Leeds to help communities tackle a range of social issues has been officially launched. This independent charity aims to encourage and support churches, community groups and other faith groups working together to enable flourishing neighbourhoods.

The Cathedral Academy, Wakefield is celebrating after winning Secondary School of the Year at the national Times Educational Supplement Schools Awards 2019. The awards recognise outstanding contributions made by education teams and individuals to help students around the country to succeed.

The Church of England's LentPilgim and EasterPilgrim campaigns achieved great digital success with an overall reach of 6.9 million through the national Church’s social media accounts, the app, email and Alexa. They series of reflections were available in printed form, or digitally with the latter including recordings of prayers and reflections for each day during Lent and Easter.

Ordinations of our new deacons will take place at Wakefield Cathedral at the end of this month with 15 new folk ready to work across the diocese. Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nick Baines will conduct ordination services at 11am and 3pm on Saturday, June 29 and here are introductions to all those preparing to serve, in their own words.

Bradford Academy is celebrating after being
winning the Community and Collaboration Award in this year's prestigious Times' Educational Supplement Awards
. Delighted Executive Principal at the CofE Academy, Tehmina Hashmi said: "The awards...recognise outstanding contributions made by education teams and individuals to help students around the country to succeed."

Churches, faith communities, social groups and civic bodies all joined in the
Great Get Together
Weekend
in Batley, which marked what would have been the 45th birthday of murdered MP Jo Cox. Four days of shared activities began on Thursday last week with “Step into the Future” when some 1,000 children joined together to parade down the closed main street to the Batley Bulldogs Rugby Ground.

All creatures great and small filled St Peter’s Church in Rawdon last Sunday for their tenth Animal Blessing Service. The Bishop of Kirkstall, Rt Revd Paul Slater, was in attendance and blessed all the animals who brought the church building alive with yelps of excitement as they led their human companions to the pews.

The lives of 1,000 vulnerable children around the world are being changed thanks to the support of people from across the Harrogate postcode.
The HG1000 campaign
has seen churches, schools and businesses from across the area come together over the past five years to sponsor 1,000 children who are living in poverty.

Children at Horbury Bridge Academy have been doing their bit to combat climate change
by spreading the word amongst schools on how they can help the environment and create a more sustainable lifestyle. A group of Year 6 Young Leaders and Eco-Rangers invited other schools to attend a Global Goals school conference.

Heritage Open Days
is England's largest free festival of history and culture and brings together over 2,500 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers each year. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of HODs, 2019 will be the biggest festival yet, taking place between 13 - 22 September. In 2018, almost 100 parishes across the Diocese took part, why don't you this year?

Visitors to Bradford Cathedral, until the end of August, are being invited to walk the
Prayer Labyrinth
which has been cut in to the grass in the gardens surrounding the Cathedral. The Labyrinth, which follows a one way route in
and out to the centre, represents the journey of life and offers a journey into your heart to meet with God.
