News
Following Bishop Nick’s call to continue to celebrate this season online, lots of churches offered digital worship this Palm Sunday. For example, St George’s Church Leeds premiered their recorded Sunday service on YouTube, which included a video retelling of the Palm Sunday story, complete with costumes and tree branches. No Palm Sunday processions or donkeys this year, but the glory of Easter will be shared by online worshippers, urges Bishop Nick in a letter to clergy sent today. "We can still re-live the events and significance of the day on our own or via social media," writes Bishop Nick in an Ad Clerum, printed in full below. A new ecumenical support group in Masham is keeping vulnerable folk in the area well fed and supplied. Masham’s Shopping Angels are a small band of volunteers who collect and deliver food, prescriptions and pet s upplies, made up of clergy from St Mary the Virgin Church and Masham Methodist Church.  Read more here.
This Easter we are inviting people across our diocese to be apart of our 'pass the cross' video. All you have to do is film yourself passing the cross from left to right whilst saying 'Alleluia Christ has risen!' All the clips will then be edited together and shared t his Easter Sunday. If you are up for joining in, please film and send your video to [email protected].
Bishop of Huddersfield, the Rt Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs, has spoken openly of the personal importance of his new role as the Lead Safeguarding Bishop for the Church of England, which he commences this week. In a blog posted on the national Church of England website, Bishop Jonathan talks of how difficult memories from his childhood will help in the many aspects of his new role. Read his blog here
Events
This Easter weekend, to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, the churches across our diocese and the three cathedrals will be hosting digital services on their online platforms. On our website we have made a list of the church services and events being live streamed across the five areas. Find where your local service will streamed here
On Good Friday Wintershall Plays will be live streaming their Passion of Jesus performance on social media. Wintershall normally perform at Trafalgar Square each Easter, but this year will be providing a digital offering that will include interviews with cast members and testimonies from One Good Frida y organisers. The 'story' is one hour long followed by a recording of Passion 2019. Find more here
Spring Harvest Home is a completely free online conference programme with content suitable for everyone in the family. Starting on Monday, April 13 there is some amazing material all built around the 2020 theme of "Unleashed - The Acts Church Today". Never has there been a more appropriate time t o gather together as a community to worship, learn, laugh and pray together. Find out more here

A new Easter 2020 section of our website has been created, designed to give easy access to information and resources regarding Easter. It can be accessed via the banner on the home page and contains links to resources for families and clergy, along with a list of online streamed Easter services across our diocese. It also includes video messages from Bisho p Nick, released each day of Holy Week. Access it here.
On our website we have made a list of the church services and events being live streamed across our diocese . This is so anyone in our area is able to find their nearest live streamed Sunday service or prayer meeting. Our Children, Young people and Families Team have gathered a number of great resources on the Digital Learning Platform, to support and equip parents, children, young people and church youth leaders during this time of physical distancing. Find and access the resources here.
Global Explorers is a fantastic, interactive teaching resource for parents that will help their children find out about global issues. They can take a virtual journey, build up interest and knowledge of the world around us.
