Since 2001, the Appalachian Diabetes Control and Translation project has worked prevent and control diabetes by working with community-based coalitions in rural undeserved counties in Appalachia. Currently there are 76 coalitions who are active members of the network.

This project is a federal, state, and community partnership involving the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), and a team at the Robert C. Byrd Center for Rural Health at Marshall University.
