Meet and Potatoes

Are you and your family looking for a fun, family way to "give back" during this month of Thanksgiving? Consider decorating some paper bags for Meet and Potatoes. This is a do-it-yourselves project that kids love. It also helps us get our bags ready for potato packing on December 5, 2021. We need 600 bags ready to go!

Follow these easy steps:

1.       Go to the St Elizabeth room at Advent. On the table, you will see plain bags, some stickers, markers, and a sign-out sheet.

2.       Take as many bags and stickers as you’d like.

3.       Fill out the sign-out sheet so we know how many people have taken bags.

4.       Decorate only one side of the bags and leave a 1-2” space clear at top for folding and hold punching. Decorate using whatever you’d like - crayons, markers, stickers, etc.

5.       Return to the St Elizabeth room by Wednesday, December 1.

Then join us on Sunday, December 5, between 9:30-10:30am for Meet and Potatoes

Please feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who might enjoy this kind of family project.

Thanks everyone! Michele Pepe

Stewardship.png

Thanks to YOU, our Stewardship Campaign has reached 87% of our goal!! We are sincerely grateful for your pledge and encouraged by the responses that continue to come in. 139 pledges have come in thus far bringing us to $454,432...that's 139 families who have answered the call to meet the needs of the church! As we enter into the fourth week after Celebration Sunday, we ask that if you haven't yet made a pledge for 2022, please go to our website or call the church office to do so today. The vestry will be meeting next week to propose a plan for next year and these pledges provide a foundation to grow as we seek a new rector. ~Stewardship Committee Click here for our online pledge card

As we approach Thanksgiving and the season of multiple gatherings of family, friends and “even those we might consider ‘other,' read or listen to Brother Curtis’ piece on gathering together at the table. He is a member of the Society of St. John the Evangelist in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It may help you rethink the meaning and importance of hospitality. Blessings, Nancy+

Book Discussion to Begin This Month!

Join us in conversation over The Post-Quarantine Church by Thom S. Rainer. This month’s discussion will cover the Introduction, Challenge 1: Gather Differently and Better, and Challenge 2: Seize Your Opportunity to Reach the Digital World. Zoom and in-person options available!

Rainer writes:

The world has changed significantly. The pre-quarantine world and the post-quarantine world are not the same. Churches cannot minister effectively using methods for a world that no longer exists. View the pandemic as a wake-up call. The post-quarantine era is an opportunity to make the necessary positive changes to move our churches forward. Be excited and encouraged, and act with hope, promise and enthusiasm.
