PLANNING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER!

We are inviting you to complete the Church Assessment Tool (CAT), an on-line instrument that will help us gauge the strength, vitality, and trends in our church.  The information gained from this assessment will be valuable in helping the discernment committee as they make decisions about the future of the Episcopal Church of the Advent.

In a few days, you will receive an email with a unique link to the CAT.  Beginning January 24, 2022, we are asking you to go online by clicking on the link provided and tell us about your experiences in and priorities for our church.  Please do not discuss the survey or your answers with others as this may influence their answers.

If you need a paper copy, please contact the church office, and we will provide one for you along with a self-addressed stamped return envelope.

All answers are strictly anonymous.  We have no way of matching any assessment to a particular person, so please feel free to candidly share your perceptions, opinions and experiences.  Our future together is dependent on your participation and honest answers.

If you have questions, please contact Sally Palic at 610-793-3173 or [email protected]

Many thanks,

Kim Hoeschel and Sally Palic – Discernment Committee Co-Chairs

The Call to Process Update

January 14, 2022

The Discernment Committee was announced to the congregation and held their first meeting. View the announcement here.

In preparation for the parish survey launching 1/24, please think and pray about:

  •    What do you see as the characteristics of the ideal priest?
  •    What does Advent need to accomplish our mission?

Keep praying for a faithful interim and all of Advent's parishioners during this time of transition. Visit our website for the daily prayers.

Keep an eye out for an email from Emma regarding the remainder of the January Sunday school dates.

The next meeting for the Pilgrimission is Wednesday January 19th at 7pm. This is the last informational meeting and they would like commitment by this meeting, or by the morning of the 20th.

Please email Betsy Ivey to [email protected] to commit / ask any questions!

Additionally, come join us and go Ice Skating at the Patriot Ice Center after church on January 30th from 12:30-2:00! Info Here

If we could have one person volunteer to stay and help out each Sunday, that would be awesome. I made a sign-up here through February.

I won't be here on February 20th so if two folks wanted to take that day on that would be awesome--service project, bible lesson, fellowship event--whatever you want! I'm happy to help with planning.

Wishing you a blessed 2022.

Bible Study - Online

Wednesdays from

10:00 am – 11:30 am

When we reconvene, we are now reading “The Heart of Christianity: Rediscovering a Life of Faith” by Marcus Borg. This book explores the emerging paradigm of Christian life that can provide direction and faith in difficult times. Although it builds on other books we have studied, it stands alone and offers approaches and practices that can make living the Christian life a vibrant and transformational experience.

We welcome new members and hope you will join us for our readings and discussions.
