NTCA Re-naming Contest
Dear NTCA members,

As we finish out the 25th anniversary year of NTCA, we believe it is a great opportunity to make good on the promised change in our organization’s name. In recognition of the power of words, the NTCA leadership voted to remove the word “Controllers” from our name.

With changes in the way we use language in the TB community, care for TB patients, investigate transmissions, work in close partnership with other organizations and industry, and advocate for better tools and more funding, we are seeking a new name that more accurately reflects the current mission and values of our organization and our collective desire for greater inclusivity of all those committed to eliminating TB in the United States.

To find the best possible organizational name, we want to engage our our membership by asking you for your ideas for a new name. After all, this organization represents you--and YOU should contribute to re-naming and re-shaping us for our next 25 years of service.

NTCA RE-NAMING CONTEST

Now for the good part....to make this fun and rewarding, we are running a contest!

  • The contest is open to NTCA members only.
  • To submit your contest entry, email it to dhwegener@tbcontrollers.org by the deadline.
  • Entries are due by midnight Pacific Time on Friday, April 30, 2021.
  • The contest winner and NTCA’s new name will be announced on Friday, May 21, 2021.
  • If your entry is chosen, you will win a complimentary registration for the Virtual 2021 National TB Conference

As you think about proposing a new name, there are two things to keep in mind:
  • National Tuberculosis Association, or NTA, has been claimed by the current American Lung Association, so we cannot use it.
  • We would like to retain the entire acronym, NTCA, but recognize that we may have to change or give it up.
Thank you, in advance, for your creativity and insight!

In partnership,
2020-2021 NTCA Board and Section Leadership
