Many of us in the hospitality world spent 2020 and much of 2021 feeling like nomads. In the midst of the pandemic, I often found that I would begin my day in a cellar in a private home and end in service pouring beautiful wine around a family's dining room table. It felt a lot like my old life…the only thing missing was the restaurant. The longer I have spent outside of restaurants, the more I have embraced the freedom that comes along with not being tied to a physical space. Delivering hospitality at the highest level is quite simply what we do. Not being confined to the limitations of a restaurant means that all of our events are truly customized to fit our guests needs. This gives us the ability to go above and beyond expectations, making us limitless in our power to deliver hospitality.
Driving our in-person events is someone I outwardly call my ‘work wife,’ but she is so much more than that. Megan Hanoian, Partner and Director of Events, is a FORCE. Her attention to detail is next level and her genuine love for people is infectious. When I met Megan at Spruce, a one Michelin star restaurant in San Francisco, I immediately recognized a kindred spirit in her. She has a background in finance and has held positions in San Francisco as General Manager, Director of Operations and Director of Events at some of the city’s best restaurants including: The Grand Café, Ame, Spruce, Tosca and Hakassan. We often joke that we share the same brain, which would be funny if it weren’t true. There is no one better to have by my side, and I am eternally grateful for her.
What we do at Acquire is curate high level experiences for our guests animated by beautiful food and wine, but it is so much more than that. One of my early lessons in service came from Danny Meyer, when he said that restaurants are rarely about the food or the wine, it is how a place makes you feel. I have learned over the last two years that it doesn’t require a restaurant space to make people feel the gift of hospitality. We are lucky to have a variety of avenues for making our clients feel connected, whether virtual or in person, the thing that drives us, the thing that fills our cup, is taking care of others.
