We worked with our great partners, Outland Youth Employment Program and “Careers” to bring JA’s Grade ?? “program name” to 50 Indigenous youth in Fort McKay First Nation and McMurray Métis.

Financial Literacy Month
In November we gave JA to 2000 students from across Northern Alberta, boosting their financial literacy for life with programs proudly presented by Servus.

Grande Prairie “Level Up”: Youth Career Exploration Event
We collaborated with Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF), Careers GP, and the Grande Prairie Regional College at Level Up: impacting over 170 students to address that community’s low high school graduation rate.

What Teachers Are Saying:
100% of JA’s teachers surveyed report JA career exploration and mentorship events are important to students’ learning and development. Teachers said: “It was valuable!”, and, “I loved the fact that it was local people who could give real life experiences.”

COMING UP...
THE BIG PITCH

Company Program students in Gr. 9-12 competed in our Dragon’s Den style event at West Edmonton Mall last fall, honing their marketing skills, learning from the judges, making sales to shoppers and gaining confidence as young entrepreneurs. Teachers and students – sign up HERE for our next in-school or after-school Company Program and Big Pitch in Spring 2022.
CALLING FUTURE INVESTORS

JA is on track to give 800 students real world knowledge with $100K to trade and invest in our stock market simulation this school year! Teachers register your class here. Students take the self directed version here!

FUTURE LEADERS WEEK

On April 25 - 29th, 2022 we’ll inspire 500+ students from across Northern Alberta to pursue post-secondary education. From profs to business people, we need volunteers to talk about your own career. Register here. It’s also a great staff team-building activity so consider signing up as a group too!

YWCA GIRLSPACE

This June, female volunteers from our business community will deliver a JA program to girls in Grades 7-10, through our partnership YWCA. When we equip girls for success, they gain financial independence that can be critical to their wellbeing as adults.

“It was both motivating and empowering…introducing our girls to opportunities and experiences they were unaware of. They now understand they can strive to create new possibilities for themselves. Thank you for taking the time to inspire us all!

Dunia Azzara, YWCA Youth Leadership Manager
