Marching Band and Colorguard Win Sweepstakes at
Royal Classic Tournament
The Mira Costa Marching Band and Colorguard had a fabulous showing at The Royal Classic Tournament in Simi Valley. This was the first tournament of the season. Their field show, “Outside the Bachs”, took first place for Auxiliary in their division and won Sweepstakes, which is 1st place in all divisions, for High Visual Effects, as well as Overall Band. Congrats to Boys Water Polo as the 2017 Bay League Champs!
Costa Boys Water Polo finished Bay League season undefeated, with a 7-0 record. They also recently competed in the Steve Pal Tournament and ended with a 4-1 record. This was a 5th place finish for the team in the tournament, and moves the Mustangs to an 18-7 overall record for the year. READ MORE
Costa Football on a winning streak,
with big game against Palos Verdes this Friday!
For the 7th straight time in a game, the Mustangs fell behind early as the Inglewood Sentinels picked off a pass and returned it for a 1st quarter lead. However, the Costa footballers answered immediately using their running attack. Jonah Tavai, Vashon Hill and Reed Vabrey were able to get big chunks of yards as the offense answered with 42 points.
Cross Country hosts first Bay League meet at Costa
and excels at Mt. Sac!
The past 2 weeks have been busy ones for Costa Cross Country! 
They hosted the first Bay League meet on the Mira Costa campus. This is the first time it has run through the campus in many years! Thank you to the administration and all the other boosters on campus for their support and cooperation during our meet.
Girls Golf Team wins Bay League and
are Champions for a 7th straight season!
The Costa Girls Golf Team are Bay League Champions for the 7th straight season!
Four players have advanced to the CIF Northern Sections Individuals.

Boys Basketball looks ahead to Winter Season

The basketball boys did yoga last Friday on the new west field and it was great. They will have two more Friday workouts as well as outside professional trainers coming in to work with them. They are preparing for a great season with some valuable cross training!
Surf Team sweeps the South Bay Scholastic Surfing Kickoff Contest!
Mira Costa swept the South Bay Scholastic Surfing Association Kickoff Classic Surf Contest on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Hermosa Beach. This competition is between 12 high schools, and Mira Costa certainly had reason to celebrate!

Don’t miss  The Diviners , a moving stage play by Jim Leonard, Jr., playing Nov. 3rd-11th in Mira Costa’s Small Theatre,  1401 Artesia Blvd., Manhattan Beach . Set in the fictional town of Zion during the Great Depression, a widowed farmer is raising his son Buddy, whose brain was damaged at age 4 during a near drowning in which his mother died trying to save him.
MUN prepares for upcoming debates!
For the past two weeks, the Mira Costa Model UN program has conducted four in-class debates and attended two outside debates. The advanced Model UN class completed two debates on the topics of Terrorism in Europe and Assimilation of Refugees into Europe. The students debated solutions on how to prevent terrorism, how to aid refugees, and how to help them adjust to their new culture. Girls Tennis Competes well against Palos Verdes!
The Mustangs competed well against the Palos Verdes in the loss to the #3
ranked team in Division 1, winning two singles sets and four doubles sets.
In singles, Audrey Vo (MC) won one set in first position 6-1; and Maya
Serota (MC) won one set 6-3. 
Mira Costa Junior, Alex Crisera, is invited to
USA Swimming’s National Select Camp!
Alex Crisera, who swims for Costa and with Beach Cities Swimming, will be participating in the USA Swimming’s National Select Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The National Select Camp invited the top 48 boys and 48 girls using the SWIMS database of top times during the 2017 qualifying period. Shout out to Costa graduate, Mandy McKeegan, for a standout performance and season with UC Davis Women’s Soccer team!
Senior Mandy McKeegan has had an amazing year playing soccer for the UC Davis Aggies! She scored an “NCAA Top 10 Goal” against USC ( click here for video ). She scored the Golden Goal victory against San Francisco ( click here for article/video ), and she scored the game winning goal against UC Irvine on October 12th. As a result of her outstanding performance, she was named NCAA Big West Conference Athlete of the Week ( click here for article).

Manhattan Beach brings relief to Cleveland, TX
Take a few minutes to watch this compelling video!
Seven trucks filled with relief items pulled out of the Mira Costa High School parking lot bound for Cleveland, Texas. Everything from building supplies, buckets, baby formula and pet food collected at Manhattan Beach City Hall and area schools was on its way to Texas to aid the Hurricane Harvey recovery effort.
