DON'T BE A STRANGER THIS SUMMER! Mark your calendars for these special events and services.
Saturday, July 4, @ 10 a.m. at the VF library –Reading of The Declaration of Independence.
Imagine the circumstances leading up to the writing of this landmark document. Our forebears were outraged at being unjustly oppressed. King George was tightening his grip, the colonists were protesting, and in 1775, there were skirmishes with the British. It was time to take action.
An angry Thomas Jefferson wrote the fiery document you will be hearing, which was amended and approved by men equally angry. Angry, afraid, but resolved that all men shall be free.
Imagine yourself on July 4, 1776 and experience the Declaration with all the fervent anger, indignation, and resolution of those who were actually there.
