Fall Newsletter | October 2022
Thanks to the generosity of compassionate people like you, we’ve been able to provide for more teens and their families by continuing to deliver supportive services including counseling, crisis intervention, emergency housing, substance use prevention programs, detention alternatives, and so much more. In fact, over the past several decades YOS has served more than 450,000 of Chicago’s youth. However, our work is far from done and the demand for our services is ever-growing. We need your support to continue to provide services, food, shelter, and supplies to those with the greatest needs.

Please consider making a donation to help us reach our goal of $10,000 by the end of this year. With your continued support, together we are making a profound difference in the lives of youth throughout Chicago, and we hope that this relationship is something that will continue to grow for many years to come.

To get the latest updates on what's happening with YOS, follow us on social media. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and for taking this step to ensure all youth have what every child deserves; a future.

What's New
Girls Empowerment and Motivation Series
YOS has embarked on a new program this year, called Girls Empowerment and Motivation Series (GEMS). YOS provides direct services to girls involved in the juvenile justice system. GEMS aims to support girls on a path toward success, stability, and long-term contribution to society.
Youth Employment Program
YOS has participated in the City of Chicago’s One Summer Chicago summer employment program, by serving as a worksite and hiring youth directly to work at YOS. Since its inception, we have employed hundreds of kids and guided them through managing their responsibilities. This past summer we hit a significant milestone, approximately 100 youths were employed within the Chicago area and surrounding communities.
Chicago Community Impact Grants Program
We are very proud to share that Youth Outreach Services has been awarded a grant through the Chicago Community Impact Grants program, developed by McDonald’s Corporation. We were one of 40 Chicago-based organizations chosen to receive funds. The grant provides additional resources that support our commitment to helping to address some of the city’s most pressing needs for youth. We look forward to sharing more about the rollout of this program and the impact it will have on our community.

A special thanks to the McDonald's Team for providing back-to-school supplies for our youth. The team hosted an event at their headquarters so employees could participate in assembling the backpacks with notebooks, writing utensils and so much more.

Donor Spotlight
Michelle Menconi, a YOS Board Member for over 13 years, continues to support and participate in YOS events that help adolescent youths in crisis within the City of Chicago. Not only did Michelle donate tickets to the multiple Cubs games this past summer but she also participated in the Back-to-School event at McDonald's headquarters on September 20, 2022. Her support has been essential to the success of YOS and our ongoing efforts.
