BC CHAMBER APPLAUDS TECK AND ANGLO AMERICAN MERGER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BC Chamber of Commerce Statement on the Teck and Anglo American Merger

VANCOUVER, B.C., September 9, 2025

In reaction to the announcement earlier today by Teck Resources and Anglo American of their plans to merge, Alex McMillan, CEO (Interim) of the BC Chamber of Commerce, released the following statement:

“The BC Chamber of Commerce welcomes today’s announcement of the merger between Teck and Anglo American. The newly formed, Anglo Teck, will be one of the world’s largest critical mineral companies, combining the strengths of both organizations, creating long-term benefits for British Columbia’s mining sector and our provincial economy broadly.

NAVIGATING THE SUSPENSION OF DE MINIMIS

A few days ago the shipment of low-value shipments to the US, also known as de minimis shipments under US$800 in value, was suspended by the US Administration. This affects BC small business in a very dramatic way as many have successfully and profitably shipped their goods to the US.
