Over these past two weeks, we've received many calls and emails from constituents who want to know how the coming change of administration in Washington will affect Illinois and our communities.
At this point, it's really too early to know exactly what we can expect. But I want you to know that we hear you, we are monitoring the situation closely, and we will keep you informed as we move forward.
Please know that your state government continues to work hard on your behalf, and please don't hesitate to call our office with any questions or concerns as we move forward together.

Can you bee-lieve it? It's our last call for suggestions to name our district beehive!
We're sponsoring a City Bee Savers beehive, on behalf of District 42, and this week is your last chance to help us pick a great name for our hive and its queen bee.
City Bee Savers is a member of the Illinois Queen Initiative (IQI), which is working to raise healthy honey bees from colonies that are well-suited to Illinois' rigorous climate.
Throughout the summer, the City Bee Savers safely retrieve honey bees from trees, chimneys, and buildings around Illinois and place them in hive boxes. Those bees are then bred to help produce bees that are Illinois-hardy.
Here are some of the wonderful suggestions we've had so far:
- Infinit-bee and bee-yond (with Buzz Lightyear as Queen)
- Maybeearey (with Aunt Bee as Queen)
- Your Royal Hiveness
- Bee-yonce
If you have some creative ideas to name our hive and its queen, you can click here. (Puns are DEFINITELY encouraged.) We'll select the top five and then let you vote to pick the name. (Just BEE polite with your suggestions, please!)

Medicaid provider revalidation alert! Do NOT miss the Nov. 30 deadline
If you're a Medicaid provider, please check your email inbox NOW for revalidation notices from IMPACT (Illinois Medicaid Program Advanced Cloud Technology.) If you don't fill out your revalidation on time, you'll be disenrolled and you won't get paid.
The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) require state Medicaid programs to revalidate all actively enrolled Medicaid providers at least once every five years. Revalidations that were due in 2020 were paused as a result of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, which interrupted the normal revalidation cycle for many providers.
So take a moment and make sure that you have completed your 5-year revalidation. If you have not, you must complete it by November 30, 2024. If you are disenrolled, you will not receive payments for claims after that date, and you will not receive retroactive payments if you revalidate after the deadline. You can learn more here.

It's cold and snowy, so please help keep a child warm by donating winter gear
With the temperature beginning to drop, it's a good time to think of all the people in our community who are vulnerable to the cold. By giving them a warm coat and gloves, we can make all the difference in the world to them this winter.
To help keep our neighbors warm, my office is hosting a Winter Gear Drive through Dec. 16 for students in need and their families. We'll be collecting winter coats, gloves, boots, snow pants and hats to donate to local school districts. Children's winter boots sizes 1 to 7, women's 2XL coats, men's small coats and hats and gloves of all sizes are particularly needed.
To schedule a time to drop off donations or schedule a porch pick-up, please email reptch42@gmail.com or call 630-812-9292. You can also donate through our Amazon Wishlist and through Target.
