What's next for COVID-19 and Delaware?
A world leader in epidemiology, Dr. Larry Brilliant, shared the following in an
interview on CNBC:
“Unless we vaccinate everyone in 200 plus countries,
there will still be new variants.”
Employers will face several tough questions from employees as COVID-19 variants come and go. Here is a sample:
“I’m feeling ill today. Not sure what I have, but I should probably stay home. Should I stay home for a day or two or two weeks?"
“Vaccine boosters are being rolled out in Israel. If approved in the U.S., will I need to get one? And will that COVID booster be added to the seasonal flu shot?”
“How do I distinguish between the flu and COVID-19?”
“I have been vaccinated. Do I need to sign up for a booster product made by the same manufacturer?”
Early indicators in the U.K. and India suggest that the Delta variant is fading as rapidly as it spread. Brilliant said the models he uses predicts “an inverted V shape epidemic curve.” That suggests variant spikes rise quickly but decline rapidly too.
To better understand how to address COVID-19 variants, booster shots and more, the State Chamber will host a webinar on Tuesday, August 24th at noon with:
-
Dr. Marci Drees, Infection Prevention Officer and Hospital Epidemiologist, ChristianaCare
-
Dr. Michael Ybarra, Emergency Physician, Georgetown University Hospital and Vice President of Medical and Strategic Affairs, Pharma
-
Joe Spinelli, Vice President, AccessDX, a Houston-based COVID testing company
We’ll tackle these questions and more during this informative session.
