Celebrating Children's Book Week
Discount This Week: Goodreads Giveaway

Before you had to read text books or boring reports, what were your favorite books as a kid? What authors filled your bookshelves? Celebrate the 97th annual Children's Book Week, May 2-8, by reading a good book to your daughter or nephew, finishing another chapter in that novel by your bed, or remembering your favorite literary characters.

The Story Behind Children's Book Week
Over a century ago, Franklin K Matthiews, librarian of the Boy Scouts of America, started touring the country to promote higher standards in children's books. He proposed creating a Children's Book Week, which would be supported by publishers, booksellers, and librarians.

Fun Facts About the Author
As a child, I enjoyed reading all the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. My favorite was These Happy Golden Years, in which she started teaching and "courting" Almanzo.

My favorite fictional character was the tenacious sleuth with auburn hair, Nancy Drew.
