We will be holding our monthly Life drawing session online via Zoom and at The Resurgence Centre in Hartland.

Rowena Wilson will facilitate a

Blue and green meditation series, offering a chance to deepen our contemplation and consider how Gaia's palette enhances our lives.

We will be celebrating another much-loved Earth festival with Georgie Gilmore, this month marking Lammas — a season of generosity and abundance.

Resurgence Talk: Vicki Hird –

‘Rebugging the farm’

Wednesday 29 July • 7—8pm BST • via Zoom

Vicki Hird will talk about the importance of insects and other invertebrates and how we can look after them. She will also offer a sneak preview of her upcoming new book about how invertebrates talk to each other, to plants and to fungi.

Vicki is an award-winning environmental campaigner, researcher and writer working mainly in food, farming and environmental policy. She is Strategic Lead on Agriculture at The Wildlife Trusts and was Head of Sustainable Farming for Sustain, an alliance of organisations and communities working together for a better system of food and farming. Her passion for insects and the planet led to her book Rebugging the Planet, subtitled ‘The remarkable things that insects (and other invertebrates) do — and why we need to love them more’. She is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society.

Harvest celebration – Lammas:

ancient wisdom, guided meditation, Nature connection and self-reflection

Tuesday 28 July • 6.30—7.30pm BST • via Zoom

At the beginning of the harvest season, let us celebrate the generosity, abundance and gifts of Nature by reflecting on how we can share our gifts with the world.

Let us honour the natural world by turning to it as a teacher and as a guide in reflection. Let us embrace Nature — both around us and within us — through meditation and Nature-connection practices and by honouring the wisdom of the ancient people of these lands.

These gatherings are hosted by Georgie Gilmore, a meditation teacher who has a deep love for the Earth. Having spent a number of years teaching meditation to adults and teenagers as a way of supporting their wellbeing, Georgie now guides meditation in a way that seeks to tend to the wellbeing of both people and planet.

Life drawing group

Tuesday 14 July • 7—9pm BST

The Resurgence Centre and via Zoom

Enhance your skills, enjoy the artful company of an experienced model, and indulge in the tranquillity of drawing. Our presenter will guide you through nuanced stances ranging from two-minute warm-ups to

an hour-long pose.

Draw from the comfort of your own home in real time via our

high-quality technology, or join us in Hartland

at The Resurgence Centre.

Blue and green meditations

Fridays 17 and 24 July • 8—8.30am BST • via Zoom

Discover the meditative qualities of two beautiful colours from Gaia’s palette with these free events. The natural world is bursting with beautiful greens from Earth’s vegetation and brilliant blues from water and the vast sky. They are a big part of our connection to Earth’s bounty, and, as Nature lovers and artists, we may find they instinctively

help us to relax.

With deeper contemplation, discover what colour may convey and how it enhances our lives. Rowena’s new guided meditations will help us appreciate the vibrancy of life as we delve deeply within each colour to inspire wellbeing,

inner peace and revitalisation.

To honour the 60th anniversary of Resurgence, we are presenting an exhibition at the Museum of Barnstaple

an environmental charity, and the creation of

The Resurgence Centre in Hartland, North Devon.

You’ll discover some of the visionaries whose ideas have been honoured in the magazine, alongside artwork and prints by artists who featured in the publication, including early works by Axel Scheffler and Jackie Morris. The exhibition features a showcase of cover images from the magazine archive going back to 1966. We are also exhibiting work by ceramicist Sandy Brown and founder of the global Craftivist Collective Sarah P. Corbett.

Radical Love Retreat with Satish Kumar

Friday 28 – Sunday 30 Aug

42 Acres, Somerset, UK

This summer, join Resurgence founder, former monk, lifelong activist and peace pilgrim Satish Kumar for a life-affirming weekend retreat exploring Radical Love.

Like gravity, love is the holding and sustaining power in the world. Love is the essence, the meaning, and the purpose of life. Love is the foundation on which mutuality, reciprocity, humility, and generosity are built. Satish invites us to open our hearts and experience love in all its forms: intimate as well as ultimate, personal as well as universal; love of nature, love of people, and love of ourselves.

Held over three days at regenerative estate, rewilding nature reserve and wellbeing retreat centre, 42 Acres in Somerset, whose vision is to live in harmony with nature, self and others. Choose from a range of quietly luxurious accommodation, all powered by 100% renewable energy.

Enjoy deeply nourishing, soil-to-gut vegetarian meals featuring ingredients organically grown in the permaculture garden and wild-foraged on the land. There'll be wild swimming, a wood-fired sauna, morning qi gong, and a fire-cooked dinner served beneath the canopy in the oak forest glade.

A new kind of food summit

Monday 31 August to Friday 4 September

Paro, Bhutan

The Royal Government of Bhutan and the Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA), along with the UN Development Programme and partners, are hosting the first Global Conscious Food Systems Summit in Bhutan this autumn.

This landmark gathering will advance a new paradigm for food systems transformation — one that recognises the vital role of culture, values, spirituality, happiness and inner development in catalysing systemic change and regeneration.

The summit will bring together policymakers, farmers, development organisations, Indigenous communities, private-sector leaders and civil society to explore pathways for transforming food systems. Registration is now open.

Writing for Uncertain Times

Sunday 13 to Wednesday 16 September

Hawkwood Centre for Future Thinking,

Stroud, Gloucestershire

We live in uncertain times. Every day, it seems, we are exposed to narratives of misused authority, pain and despair.

How can we even begin to imagine more positive outcomes for our world? Over four days, Bath Spa University’s

Lucy English and John Strachan will explore the power of imagination and how we can use creative writing to refresh a vision of what is possible through poetry, story and memoir. They will be joined by spoken word artist and poet Liv Torc as a mid-week guest speaker.

This course is open to anyone with an enthusiasm for writing and a desire to explore and experiment.

Be quick! Early bird pricing for this course ends on 20 July — book your place before then.

We hope to see you in person or online at an event that speaks to you this July.

With all good wishes,
