Iceland Through an Artist's Eyes

Woodbury artist, Matt Wood, recently took a trip to Iceland and will be sharing his fantastic photographs that give a unique view of this beautiful country. Iceland has a unique terrain and Matt Wood's photographs capture the stunning vistas, from the mountains to the oceans.

GREAT DECISIONS World Affairs Discussion Group
Will meet bi-weekly beginning Thursday, Feb. 7th

Great Decisions
Prepare to discuss the world at the Woodbury Public Library with Great Decisions, America's largest discussion program on world affairs!  The 8-week program is sponsored by the Woodbury Public Library in memory of former Director Jill Smith and is facilitated by resident and educator Don Giroux.  

The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching the DVD and meeting in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today.  This year's topics are as follows: 
Refugees and Global Migration, The Middle East: Regional Disorder, Nuclear Negotiations: Back to the Future?, 
The Rise of Populism in Europe, Decoding US-China Trade, Cyber Conflicts and Geopolitics, The United States and Mexico: Partnership Tested.

Books are available to borrow at the library, and the Friends of the Library will offer light refreshments.

Internet Safety in a Hacker's World

Our world today is more connected than ever before.  
This connectivity has increased convenience, but it has been at the expense of safety and privacy.    
Join Reference and Technology Librarian Ron Fairchild for an informative presentation on what these vulnerabilities are, how they can affect you, and steps you can take to reduce your risk of being compromised in this hacker's world.

"Books Come to Life"

Keely Baisden presents "Books Come to Life: a Celebration of Literature Through Song" at the Woodbury Public Library on Tuesday, February 19 at 7:00 PM.  Join her as she sings and dances selections from popular tales found on the shelves of libraries, as well as performing some of the most renowned literary creations gleaned from Broadway shows.  
Offered Cabaret style, this program is free and open to music enthusiasts of all ages.

Young children and their families will delight in this program that presents a musical narration performed by a Lee Caron, a member of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra. Mr Caron will use words and the music of percussion instruments. Children will have the opportunity to touch and try the instruments at the end of the program.
