Easter Egg Hunt: Come and Serve our Community!

Saturday, April 4 | 10am (Volunteers arrive at 8:30am)

Our Easter Egg Hunt is just around the corner and we need YOUR help with it! If you have kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, neighbors, etc., in 5th grade and below- invite them! It is a super fun, safe place for all to enjoy some Easter fun. Next, serve alongside us to help make it happen. The Easter Egg Hunt is one of our biggest events of the year and it takes a lot of us. There are plenty of opportunities to serve the day of the event, but the biggest thing right now is filling the Easter eggs. You can get those from the Narthex! Reach out to Rev. Josh Jackson or Liz Young if you have any questions. Thanks for helping us welcome our neighbors!

Special Easter Offering

Through the Easter Offering, we respond to God’s resurrection love by sharing in God’s work in the world. As we give, we proclaim with Mary: love still answers.

The Easter Offering, received by most congregations on March 29 and April 5, 2026, provides vital support for the general ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Your generous gift helps equip college students for leadership, strengthens global mission partnerships, sustains health and social service ministries, supports the formation of new congregations, cares for pastors and chaplains, and so much more.

Your gift has the power to transform lives and extend the love of Christ around the world.

ACC Staff Updates

  • We are thrilled to share with you that we have hired our next Preschool Director! We cannot wait to introduce you to Chloe Skiles! Chloe brings significant experience and education in early childhood education as well as in mental health and wellness practices. Our search committee was greatly impressed by her from the moment we read her resume. Chloe will be an excellent leader for this beloved preschool and excellent partner in ministry for the wider congregation.

  • ACC has been awarded a "Justice & Creation Summer Fellowship", which provides a $3,000 grant to host a fellow to help with our Creation Care garden work and sustainability practices. Noah Bates-Scott will be serving in this role from mid-May through early-August. Watch for more details.

Scripture Readers Needed!

We are now scheduling June, July, and August 2026, with the option for “live” readers. If you choose to read the scripture live we would appreciate it if you could read it for both services.

Please contact John Quick to sign up (317-294-2709) or qman21611@gmail.com.

Crafting Group Update

Please be aware that the Crafting Group will not meet on April 4th.

The next gathering will be on May 2nd.

Do you need a church directory photo taken?

Would you like to update your current photo?

Janet Spaulding will be ready with her camera on Easter Sunday (April 5th) to take photos of anyone who might need or want a new one!

There are many types of loss and grief in our lives, and when grief is unresolved it can damage our health and psyche. Join us for this webinar and hear from three experienced guides on what they have learned and how others may benefit from support and resources. Learn from your own losses and share what you know. You will come away with proven examples of programs and practices.

The free virtual webinar will take place at 12:00pm ET/11:00am CT.

There is no cost to attend but registration is required.

Speakers:

Rev Kimberly Weir, Chaplain of 350 residents of affordable housing campus

Rev. David Hargrave, Chaplain, Juliette Fowler Communities

Jan Aerie, Family Counselor, Gerontologist, Coordinator Older Adult Ministries

Softball

ACC will be playing in a spring softball league on Sunday evenings, starting April 19th. If you'd like to be a part of the fun, please send an email to Pastor Beau at beau@allisonville.org.

Disciples 101 is a way for people within the ACC community to learn more about our broader tradition. We have revamped the offering to meet on a quarterly basis (rather than a multi-week class). Every three months there will be a new conversation about who we are as Disciples.

Our next session is happening on Sunday, April 26th at 12pm. We’ll provide a light lunch (pizza and salad) and a fantastic discussion focused on the history of our denomination. Rev. Peter Morgan, an ACC member and the retired president of the Disciples of Christ Historical Society, will co-lead the discussion with Pastor Beau.

Please note, we are utilizing a new platform for registration, so it may look a little different. If you have any questions, please call the office at 317-849-3957.

Joys and Concerns

JOYS

  • Following surgery last year and months of treatment, Jim Twigg called this week to share that he is cancer free! We celebrate this great news with Jim and Deb!
  • We also join in the excitement of the Wakefield family, as Beth and Adam Fike are expecting a baby to arrive this summer! We rejoice with them, Grandparents Carol and Steve, and Aunt Amanda!
  • Betty Duggan sent a note to the church last week following our celebrating her 102nd birthday. She said, "Thank you all to the congregation for the tribute to my birthday. It was heartwarming. I am so thankful to you all and my church."

CONCERNS

  • Our hearts are breaking alongside Brock McCracken, his mother Carolyn, and the rest of his family. His brother, John McCracken, passed away unexpectedly last week.
  • Our Global Ministries prayer partner this week is Japan.

In Case You Missed It

Mission Trip Registrations are Open

If you have a student in your life who you think would have a great experience serving as God's hands and feet on a mission trip this summer, encourage them to participate! You can put them in touch with Josh and send them the registration link for the right trip! Students who are currently in 5th-7th grades are going to Louisville, May 31-June 3, and students in 8th-12th grades will be going to Atlanta, June 14-20.

Flocking Fundraiser for Mission Trips

Want to send a flock of flamingos to somebody's yard AND support a great cause at the same time? The Flocking fundraiser for our mission trips is here!

Here's how it works:

  • Make a gift of $25 (or more) to send a flock of flamingos to someone
  • They will remain there until they pay $25 (or more) to move them
  • If you get flocked, consider passing on the fun and flocking someone else!
  • If not, the youth ministry will move the flamingos after a couple of days
  • You may purchase Flocking Insurance for $50 to prevent your yard from getting flocked

You can (and should) definitely send the flamingos to non-ACC members! If you know someone who would enjoy being a part of our community, or someone you've been wanting to invite to church, this is a great and fun way to share some of our fun with them! Use the button down below to flock someone, or fill out the forms in the Narthex and place them in the basket. Reach out to Rev. Josh Jackson with any questions, and let the flocking begin!

On April 11th, ACC and the Shalom Zone is sponsoring a Habitat for Humanity Panel Build. We'll erect most of a house on site that will then be transported to a permanent location where it will provide shelter to a family. It's one small, but significant way we can love our neighbors and put a roof over their heads.

To accomplish this, we're going to need close to 50 volunteers, which we believe we can fill with all of our Shalom Zone congregations, but WE NEED YOUR HELP! Attached is a graphic that you can share with a link and QR code for signing up. There are two different shifts and tasks that people can help with across all ages and abilities.

If swinging a hammer isn't your thing, we'd love some volunteers to help donate bottles of water and snacks for the volunteers. If you're interested, please email Pastor Sarah (and expect a response when she's back in office next week).
