Nominating Committee Work Begins

Every year our nominating committee identifies individuals from across the congregation to serve in various leadership roles. As specified in our bylaws, that committee is made up of 6 people appointed by the council chair. Each year 2 new people cycle on to the committee to replace 2 cycling off.

The current nominating committee is chaired by Kim Cook and also includes Sue Call, Steve Caress, Linda Belding, Richard Cohee, and Cathy Hobbs. If you've got suggestions about who the nominating committee should consider for elders, deacons, council officers, and others, please reach out to Kim directly.

It's been a while since we've had a Retro event, which is the ACC group for those who are too old to be young adults but too young to be retired. We're retro, in the sense that we were stylish in the recent past ;)

We will be holding a board game night at ACC on Friday, March 13th from 5:3oPM-8:00PM. The church will provide the main course for dinner, you're encouraged to bring:

- Something appetizing to share for a pitch-in dinner

- Your favorite board game

It will be laid back and a lot of fun. So, put the date on your calendar and we hope to see you then!

Joys and Concerns

JOYS

  • Jim Miller celebrated his 92nd birthday this week! Beau and Josh both got to see him this week at American Village. Both he and Barb were in great spirits.
  • Linda Downey recently had successful knee surgery. She is recuperating at home and welcomes our prayers as she heals
  • This joy is bittersweet: Laurie Highsmith, our beloved preschool director, has shared her plans to retire at the end of the school year. We're excited for her, but lamenting the loss to our staff and community. A search committee, which will be led by Tracy Noens, has been formed to identify a new director.

CONCERNS

  • Our prayers are with those whose lives have been upended in the Middle East. We join Christians around the world in praying for peace in Iran, Lebanon, and other places where war is raging. May the Church be a witness to the world that redemption is found not in violence, but in love. Our denominational leaders have released a statement about the US-Israeli attacks on Iran, which can be found here: https://disciples.org/ecumenical/a-joint-statement-on-the-us-israel-attacks-against-iran/
  • We pray for those in our community who are navigating physical and financial stresses. We especially want to uplift Vernon Scott, Don Burrell, Jerry & Sandy Zimmerman, Robert Keltner, & Jim Powell.
  • Our Global Ministries prayer partner this week is Costa Rica.
