$37 Million for Mission Bay

“Mission Bay is a special place that deserves special treatment.”

Through our collective efforts, we secured $37M from the Environmental Protection Agency and the State Water Resources Board to replace the nearly 100-year-old storm drains and alleviate regular flooding in South Mission Beach. As Chair of the Environment Committee, I appreciate that the new storm drain system will have critical green elements to remove pollutants from the stormwater before it enters Mission Bay, and restores a portion of the sandy beach. Thank you to our Federal and State partners for recognizing our commitment to keeping our waterways clean and our recreation areas safe.
