PIMCO Carrer Day
20 youth from Anaheim Independencia and El Modena Family Resource Centers went to Pacific Investment Management Company, LLC (PIMCO) for a career day event. They were provided with a tour of the facilities, attended a presentation, and had lunch in the cafeteria. The experience amazed the youth and opened a window to a whole new part of the world with information and employment opportunities they had never even considered. A huge thanks to PIMCO for this incredible opportunity and for being great hosts!
Backpacks for Success! 2018
78% of low-income students start the school year with inadequate or no school supplies, putting the student and the teacher at a disadvantage from the very first day of school. CAP OC’s Backpacks for Success! program helps students prepare for a brighter tomorrow by providing students in under-served or disadvantaged Orange County School Districts with backpacks that are equipped with school supplies. Between our two Family Resource Centers and our partner agencies, we have provided 2,644 students with backpacks and school supplies to date! Thank you to all who have contributed to the program and helped provide these students with the tools that are vital to their success!
October 30th is Weatherization Day!
Each year, communities across the country mark October 30th as National Weatherization Day. Weatherization Day is an opportunity to highlight the impact of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) which saves energy, improves the health and safety of homes, and supports jobs and small businesses. State and Local WAP agencies plan events and actions each year to showcase Weatherization Day such as community celebrations or WAP site visits with members of Congress. Many WAP programs are featured in the press and many governor’s officially issue a Weatherization Day Proclamation.
