Oct. 2, 2024

Hello Allisonville Christian! My name is Christina Fletcher and I am excited to be joining the wonderful staff here as your Office Manager! I recently returned to Indianapolis, my hometown, after living in Missouri for the last ten years.

I have served in a church setting for well over six years as a Youth Director and Manager. After some major life transitions and the decision to go for a second seminary degree at Luther Seminary this fall, I was looking for a way to continue serving a church in a different way and came across Allisonville!

I am deeply involved at Montreat Conference Center in North Carolina and have a passion for bridging the gap that often happens between youth and adulthood! I know my unique skill set will be utilized widely here and I look forward to building relationships with all of you. Please feel free to reach out or find me at the front office after October 1st, Monday through Thursday 9am to 4pm. My email is cfletcher@allisonville.org

Sincerely,

Christina Fletcher

Thanksgiving Story-Telling Hour

Oct 24 | 6:30PM on Zoom

Gather online for an evening of storytelling fun. Four amazing ACC members will share stories related to a moment of thanksgiving in their lives. Come listen to their wisdom, cheer them on as they offer these tales of gratitude, and be inspired by their courage to offer this part of themselves to our community.

Mark Your Calendars for Celebration Sunday!

Oct 27 | During Both Services

As we begin our stewardship campaign this Sunday, we're already thinking about how we'll celebrate the generosity of this community. On Sunday, October 27th, ACC members will be invited to bring grocery/gift cards to share along with their pledge cards for next year.

The donated gift cards will be distributed to vulnerable families in our community through our congregation, Casa, and other organizations we work with (like Family Promise and the Linwood Food Pantry). Kroger, Aldi, Meijer, or any other full service grocery store work great. Increments of $25 are encouraged and please write the amount on the gift card before donating it.

As we make the commitments that sustain our church's ministry, this is one small, but significant way that we can share our resources with our neighbors. Thanks for considering this opportunity to offer a witness of compassion beyond our walls.

Scripture Readers

We are now scheduling for the Winter with the option for “live” readers. If you choose to read the scripture live we would appreciate it if you could read it for both services. Please contact John Quick to sign up (317-294-2709 or qman21611@gmail.com).

Trunk or Treat is here! It will be on Sunday, October 27 from 5:00-7:00pm and we need YOU! This is a huge community event we host each year. We need people to decorate trunks and pass out candy, volunteers for parking and security, people to donate candy, and more! Click the link below to help make this wonderful event happen.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Rev. Josh Jackson or Liz Young.

Joys and Concerns

Joys:

  • Continuing to celebrate our Preschool Teachers from Preschool Sunday!
  • Lift up Diana Moore as she continues recovering and has returned to service!
  • We celebrate the new addition to our staff team with Christina Fletcher, our new Office Manager.
  • We give thanks for our fellowship after the annual Golf Outing last Sunday.

Concerns:

  • Our hearts and prayers are wit6h those affect5ed throughout the Southeast by Hurricane Helene. We are thinking of all who have lost loved ones and the destruction. Our hearts are especially sitting with Christmount in Black Mountain, NC.
  • We pray for Aaron Guy after his recent surgery.
  • We lift up Karen Perry as she has surgery this week.
  • All those in our circle of family and friends who are dealing with physical and mental health challenges. Especially: Pearl Ross, Alex Hofer, Diana Moore, Sandy and Jerry Zimmerman, Vernon Scott, Lori Corken-Young, David Cartwright, Davis & Bev Gofoth, Emily Hunter, and Karon Duffield's sister, Sharon.

We pray, as we do each week, for lasting peace and justice throughout our war torn world, for all who are suffering and grieving, for a meaningful and lasting end to gun violence in our city and around the world, and for our work to become an anti-racist people and society.

We continue to pray for our work and all work to be an anti-racist church and people.

Our Global Ministries Prayer Partner this week is the Middle East.
