Pennies for Preschool

The Sunday School Class for 2nd-5th graders (11am service) is collecting pennies, which will provide tuition assistance to ACC Preschool families in need.

Look for "Pennies for Preschool" containers in the Narthex, Southex, and Family Room.

NOTE: All coins and bills are happily accepted!

ACC Garden Update

Our garden continues to produce an incredible variety of fresh fruits and vegetables for our community. A recent harvest included seven dozen ears of corn, bringing the season’s total to around 55 dozen ears. Much of this bounty has already been donated to local food kitchens, where it helps feed many in need.

In addition to corn, the garden is yielding an impressive supply of tomatoes, peppers (jalapeño, bell, and habanero), collard greens, okra, squash, broccoli, lettuce, radishes, green beans, and beets. Each week, deliveries are made to the Linwood food ministry and food kitchens, including the Jesus Fellowship on the west side of town.

Everyone — both the volunteers and the recipients — are deeply grateful for this steady stream of fresh, healthful food.

Free Senior Concert - Hosted by St. Luke UMC, on Indy’s Northside, 100 W 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46260.

This free concert, hosted in a handicapped facility is designed to come unwind, hear some great music of the 50’s & 60’s and celebrate an intergenerational choir, which includes residents from local facilities, blended with professional performers.

Free Milkshakes will be served after the show, and tickets are free for residents and Assisted Living staff members. Public audience members can make a donation.

Allisonville Forum

Sunday, September 28, 12:15 p.m.

Food is a basic human need, yet many of our neighbors don't have consistent access to nutritious food. There are over 250 organizations in Indianapolis providing charitable food assistance, yet food insecurity continues to rise. Kate Howe, Executive Director of Indy Hunger Network, will talk about the causes and consequences of food insecurity and what is being done locally to address the problem.

We had a WONDERFUL time at the Prime Timers Picnic on Wednesday
We celebrated with Fishers Pride last week, and even with the rain, rejoice that it was a day of love and inclusion
We are excited that we launched our third worship service, Immersion, last Sunday at 5:00pm with dinner after. Immersion is a service for those who might not connect with traditional worship services

CONCERNS

Please join us in prayer for the family of Rev. C. Edward Weisheimer, former Regional Minister of Indiana, who passed away on September 14th. Rev. Weisheimer served as Regional Minister from 1991-2001. Messages can be sent to his wife, Ann Weisheimer, at 7849 Walnut Street Unit A, Boardman, OH 44512.

Pray for Karen Bayne who fell off of her bike on Thursday night and had surgery and is recovering and in good spirits

SAWs Ramp Build

September 20 at 8:00 AM

The 6 faith communities of the Shalom Zone, Allisonville Christian Church, Cross & Crown Lutheran Church, First Friends Meeting, and St. Pius X Catholic Church, The Garden, Metanoia UCC, will once again participate in an access ramp build with the organization, Servants at Work.

SAWs is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that builds ramps to provide people with disabilities and conditions of aging with the freedom to remain in their homes and reconnect with their communities.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 8AM to approximately 12PM. No experience necessary.

The ACC GOLF OUTING will take place on Sunday, October 5th, at SAHM Golf Course, 6801 E. 91st Street, Indianapolis.

The first T-TIME is 1:00 p.m. Golfers need to arrive by 12:30 p.m.

There will be a sign up sheet with Toni Medlen after the first service in the Narthex on September 14 and September 21.

We currently have 13 golfers already signed up but would love to have more.

Fees will be announced then and will be collected on the day of the outing. Come have fun chasing that little ball around the golf course!

Buddy Bag Collections

Fall break is approaching! For students who live in food insecure homes and depend on the meals they receive at school, breaks can be a stressful time because food may not be available.

Buddy Bags help to provide a student with food for the week. Please consider a food or monetary donation to help fill 90 bags – 50 will go to students at Clearwater Elementary School. An additional 40 bags will be divided between Eastwood and Northview Middle Schools.

We will be in the Narthex on September 14 and September 21 with a sign-up sheet for food donations and monetary contributions.

It costs approximately $30.00 to fill each bag.

Monetary contributions may be given

at the sign-up table,
placed in the offering plate
or mailed to the church with a designation of “Buddy Bags,”
or made by giving online (choose Buddy Bags from the pull-down menu on the designation line).

You are also invited to sign up to help with shopping for remaining items and/or packing the bags.

Please have your food donations to the church by Sunday, September 28. We will be packing and delivering the bags on Tuesday, September 30 at 9:30am. Come and join us!
