Sep. 3, 2024

Our Fall Church Year Kickoff is going to be on Sunday, September 15. This is going to be a fun day to celebrate all that happens in the life of our ACC Community and offer a chance to connect in new ways! Our Youth Group Theme this year is Be The Light and we are going to extend that theme for everyone during this church year.

In both services, we will present our 4th-6th graders with their Bibles and a blessing over Faith Formation leaders. We will have a ministry fair during Coffee Café and after the 11am Worship and Sunday School hour. Each ministry and group of the church will have a station where you can learn about what they do and how you can get involved!

If you have any questions, let Rev. Josh or Liz Young know.

Joys and Concerns

Joys:

  • We celebrate the birth of Keith Gran's first great grandchild, Olive Beth Michal! Olive was born in AZ to Isabelle Michal and Noah Caracoglia. Isabelle is the daughter of Susan and Rich Michal.
  • We are filled with joy for Hope Reed Short as she starts her senior year at the Modern School of Art.
  • We give thanks for Lilly Guffey and the volunteers that made our Sunday Summer programming for children possible, and we excitedly look forward to the start of Sunday School this coming Sunday.
  • We are grateful for the news from Bob Spargur that he is cancer free!

Concerns:

  • We pray for Sarah, Josh & Beau as they travel from D.C. after attending The Gathering sponsored by the Pension Fund of the Christian Church.
  • We pray for Sandy & Jerry Zimmerman as Sandy enters hospice.
  • We continue our prayers for Diana Moore, Jane Gradison, Vernon Scott, Davis and Bev Goforth, Pearl Ross, Alex Hofer, Lori Corken-Young & David Cartwright .

We pray, as we do each week, for lasting peace and justice throughout our war torn world, for all who are suffering and grieving, for a meaningful and lasting end to gun violence in our city and around the world, and for our work to become an anti-racist people and society.

We continue to pray for our work and all work to be an anti-racist church and people.

Our Global Ministries Prayer Partner this week is Zambia.

Family Promise Opportunity

ACC will be responsible for collecting housewares to furnish an apartment in September. You can sign up to donate by clicking on the attached list. You will need to bring the items to ACC on Saturday, September 28 between 9:00 AM and noon. Bring them to Door 2 (Southex). Linda Belding and I (Sherilee McLain) will be there to greet you.

Once the items are all collected, I will contact Family Promise, and we will need volunteers to take them down to the Family Promise Day Center. They will be stored there until an apartment is ready to be setup. The staff will contact me, and we will need to get a team of volunteers together to set up the apartment. Thank you for your generosity.
