Which Would You Choose?

During Sunday's Good News Jesus Bible Story, the children were asked whether they would choose healthy or unhealthy snacks and then were told a story about a father and his 2 sons. One son said he would eat the healthy snacks like his father asked but instead chose to eat the unhealthy snacks; the other said he would not do what his father wanted, but later changed his mind and did choose the healthy snacks.

In the same way, God calls us to do things we don't like or understand, that cost us or make us uncomfortable and we often tell God we aren't going to do it. Sometimes we change our mind and do it anyway and the gospel tells is that's what God is up to: changing our mind so we do what it is that God wants us to do even though we don't want to.

#christthecornerstone

In this Sunday’s gospel reading, Jesus tells a vineyard parable, which serves as an image of Israel, the prophets’ mission, and Christ’s death. For Christians, the vineyard also speaks of God’s love poured out in the blood of Christ, given to us for the forgiveness of sin. Grafted onto Christ the vine at baptism, we are nourished with wine and bread so that we may share Christ’s sufferings and know the power of his resurrection.
