Surprise Craft Kits

During Sunday's sermon time, we learned about the background of Pennridge FISH, which was started in 1972 by Lutheran churches in the area to serve economically challenged families in the Pennridge School District. For our June Brown Box project, we collected food for the FISH summer lunch program which helps bridge the gap for families during the summer months when school-provided meals are unavailable for children.

For Sunday's sermon activity, we assembled food craft kits for the children as a surprise to accompany the lunch food they receive from FISH. You can take a look at the Brown Box section below for more information.

The mystery of God’s ways is sometimes hidden from the wise and intelligent. Jesus associates with those often excluded from the religious community. Like Paul, we struggle with our own selfish desires and seek God’s mercy and forgiveness. We gather to be refreshed by Christ’s invitation: “Come to me, all you that are weary.” Gathered around word, water, and meal, we find rest for our souls.

For our June Brown Box project, we collected 318 lbs. of food and a $20 cash donation, and assembled 100 lunch craft kits for the Pennridge FISH Summer Lunch Program. Thank you to everyone who generously donated to this project.
