A peek inside the classroom: What's the story?

One of Gregg's drawings

If you've stopped by Classroom 1 at Literacy Network recently, you may have noticed some new art! Not only is Gregg Williard a longtime English instructor, he is also a talented artist. This semester, Gregg has been challenging his students to come up with captions (in English!) for a multi-panel story he draws for each class. After everyone shares their ideas, the finale is choosing a good title. Students are also putting together their own picture stories that they will finish by the end of the semester.

Follow Gregg's stories weekly on our social media: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

100% of session attendees get library cards

Two students hold up their new library cards

Students left a recent Community English session with something special: a brand-new library card! Beginner and intermediate Zoom classes joined for a special in-person session at the Verona Public Library, where they learned about this community resource.

After hearing more about what the library offers, every student attending the session decided to get their own library card!

Students shared that they were excited to bring their families to the library, access resources there, and use it to practice English.

Special thanks to Verona Public Library for five years of Community English partnership!
