Annual General Meeting

In June, the Valour Place board held the annual general meeting and elected the executive. Sean Rayner, long time director has accepted the role of President/Board Chair. Click on the video to hear Sean's message.

With the onset of the pandemic, Valour Place was able to alter operational and strategic plans quickly with the resilient leadership provided by the board.

Together, we will continue to make Valour Place a safe and comfortable place for those who serve our country and communities, in their time of need.

We thank all returning board members and welcome the new members. These individuals give generously of their time, knowledge, and support.
House News

We are pleased to welcome back Liz, returning after a maternity leave, during which she welcomed a baby girl to her family! We wish Amy well with her next endeavor and thank her for her service.

We are happy to share we have entered the next phase of opening up Valour Place. Since mid September, the common areas, on the main floor, are open for guest use. Mask wearing and safety precautions are mandatory but guests are truly happy to make their own meals and connect with each other again.

Medley CFB Society Donation
Valour Place is extremely grateful to the Medley CFB Society in Cold Lake for a generous $25,000 contribution! In a year when donations are down, we were thrilled to receive a call from Frank Dwyer with the good news. These fund will truly help us to continue to serve military families. A large majority of our guests are from the Cold Lake area.

The Medley CFB Society has made a tremendous impact in Cold Lake and to other organizations that serve military personnel. Since 1997, the society has provided over $5 million to a multitude of projects.
Walk for Valour 2020
Like most other organization, this year we needed to move the Walk for Valour from in person to a virtual event. We decided to try to change it up with walk challenges. Registered participants were asked to complete a list of 30 challenges, fundraise, and in return they received a limited edition Valour Place challenge coin. The event ran for a month with fundraising prizes up for grabs. We are so thrilled how well received it was. 196 participants represented nearly every province across Canada.
Thank you to everyone who took part as a participant, donor, or both. Together we raised $32,000!
Congrats to Eugene R. and Kyle S. for winning the top fundraiser honours and the being first to select prizes. All other prize winners have been notified.
So many people shared their experience with videos and photos online. Please watch the video for a snapshot of photos or search #walkforvalour on social media.

This year, Remembrance day will be recognized differently than what we are accustom to. Due to social distancing and large gathering restrictions, most ceremonies will take place virtually or not at all.

Although we can't be together, on this very important day, we can still honour those who sacrificed by supporting those who serve.

Consider making a gift to Valour Place to honour veterans. Your gift will also come with the opportunity to add a personal message to the Remembrance Honour Wall.
Expect more details in your inbox soon.
