Some things are timeless
I recently went through a box that came from my parents' home. Buried inside was a collection of letters that my grandfather had written to my aunt when she was a young teenager, between 1935-1937. She surprised her father on his 80th birthday with a bound collection of those letters. On the topic of frienship, he wrote in part:
You have your own place to make and occupy among your companions...and that place will depend very largely on your attitude towards others and the spirit with which you enter into life and all its interests and activities.
Don't be critical of others, but try to realize they have the same problems as you have. Try to see their point of view and how it would all look to you, if you changed places with them.
A person can always be judged by the number of friends he has and by what they think of him. I would rather have a lot of fine friends than to have a lot of money.
She got these missives of loving support and advice from him between the ages of 12-14, and never threw them away. I won't throw them away either, but will share them as proof that certain things are timeless, no matter when they are written. What he said is as true today as it was then, and it always helps to be reminded, whatever your age!
You and/or your clients have timeless things to share, too. I can help make sure it happens.
