East Indiana (EI)

EI-AHEC delivered three new IV trainer arms to Columbus Regional Health (CRH) in response to a request from CRH staff development educators for equipment upgrades in this area. Many hospital departments were requesting tools to offer this training.  In return for AHEC support of this purchase, the CRH staff development educators will visit Southeastern Career Center and assist health science teachers and students there in utilizing one of these new IV trainer arms for their health science and Certified Nursing Assistant training program.

Metropolitan Indianapolis Central Indiana (MICI)

MICI-AHEC is accepting applications for College Prep Academy (CPA) through October 8th, 2022. CPA is a 20-week Saturday program (October 29- March 11) where underrepresented students will be exposed to a wide range of health care professions by engaging in hands-on learning experiences led by diverse healthcare professionals. In addition, students will be exposed to professional development, networking opportunities, and college prep skills to jump start their journey into healthcare related degree programs. Students will receive a stipend of $800 upon completion of the program.

Northwest Indiana (NWI)

Welcome Beverly Lewis, new Associate Director of the NWI-AHEC! Beverly is committed to serving populations which lack access and resources. To this end, she serves with the Urban League of Northwest Indiana, working with the Federation of Block Club Units (FOBC), scholarships, and diversity and inclusion. Prior to this role, she worked as an academic advisor in a School of Nursing. Working with first generation students, she developed a passion for finding resources for non-traditional learners that would encourage student success. She earned a Ph.D. In Higher Education Leadership in 2019 and likes to travel, read, and enjoy nature at her leisure.

South Central Indiana (SCI)

SCI AHEC recruited for 2022-2024 Scholars during Welcome Week for Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana University Southeast, Ivy Tech Bloomington, and Ivy Tech Sellersburg. During these visits, flyers were handed out, posted in all health-related and common area buildings, and given to program offices so Deans and professors could recommend the Scholars program to their students.

Southwest Indiana (SWI)

Southwest Indiana AHEC is working with the University of Evansville, Ivy Tech Community College and the University of Southern Indiana to strengthen college students’ ability to effectively meet the demand for entry level positions at two regional health systems. The Earn & Learn program will combine educational modules with streamlined application processes to support both students and the employers. The educational modules will include content to support professionalism, critical thinking, communication and personal accountability among the students. These skills will be valuable to the students throughout their entire careers.
