Gay Life in Israel: Film & Discussion
Monday, April 2 at 7pm
Hardge Forum in Multicultural Center
Beautifully directed by Eytan Fox, one of Israel's best filmmakers "Yossi and Jagger" focuses on a tightly-knit Israeli army unit and portrays the romantic relationship between two of its soldiers: Yossi, the quiet, by-the-books company commander, and the aptly nicknamed Jagger, who has the charisma of a rock star. Within its short running time (65 minutes), "Yossi & Jagger" emerges as a deeply felt, complex and non-stereotypical story--a subtle and poignant telling of a moving love affair.
The film will be followed by a discussion about gay life in Israel and in the Israeli military, facilitated by Israeli PhD Candidate, Jonathan Friesem, Media Education Lab Manager at the Harrington School of Communication and Media at URI.
FREE and open to the university community.
Sponsored by URI Hillel and the URI GLBT Program Center as part of the Annual GLBTIQQ Symposium.
