On Friday we went to see children who live under a bridge and along a riverside here in the Philippines. When we arrived, there were around 150 children waiting expectantly for us. They were chanting "God is good all the time!" over and over. Then they sang songs and quoted Bible verses for us. The leader said one of the little boys had memorized over 500 verses! They were so excited to see us. Some remembered us from previous visits, but there were many new ones we had not seen before.
A highlight was when three young men who had been "under the bridge children" at one time shared their stories with the children and encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Those young men would never have been able to go to school without the help of FCM sponsors, but now they are college graduates with good jobs and a bright future. Their testimonies were an encouragement to some of the kids, giving them hope that someday maybe they too would escape the extreme poverty.
After the team all had a chance to speak words of encouragement and blessing eveyone received an ice cream cone and other treats. The last time we were there we promised ice cream and yesterday we delivered it.
Pray with us. Of the estimated 150 children there, we only sponsor 47. It is our desire to sponsor as many of them as want to go to school. It will obviously take a lot of sponsors and a lot of money to make that happen.
Also on Friday, we visited another group of sponsored children and many also in the room who want to be sponsored. Will you join us in praying about these needs that are greater than we are.
Saturday we spent the day at one of our Father's House children's homes and had a great time. The children are so happy. Will send a report on the visit sometime this week.
Two members of the team have been in Calabyog, Samar for the last few days. They have some exciting stories and photos to be shared in the days ahead.
Today some of us go to Iligan City, one of our favorite places where we sponsor more than a hundred children and college students. Another part of the group is taking an overnight ferry ride to Bohol.
Thank you for your prayers for our health and safety as we travel from place to place. Thank you for your support that makes this life-changing ministry possible. We are expecting miracles everywhere we go! Will you join us in prayer for that?
