Outlook 2019

What to Expect in this New Year

The team at LPL Research has just released  Outlook 2019: FUNDAMENTAL: How to Focus on What Really Matters in the Markets.  It offers investors insights and market guidance for the new year.

At RedRock Financial, we're confident that our portfolios are built to withstand normal volatility. The volatility that we have been experiencing (believe it or not) is NORMAL. Will it continue? Probably. Does our long-term outlook remain positive? Absolutely! Remember. Keep your eyes on the horizon. Watching the waves will get you feeling queasy.

The opinions voiced in this material are for general information only and are not intended to provide or be construed as providing specific investment advice or recommendations for any individual security. The economic forecasts set forth in the presentation may not develop as predicted. Rebalancing a portfolio may cause investors to incur tax liabilities and/or transaction costs and does not assure a profit or protect against a loss.

Time for a Beneficiary Review
Who's in Line to Inherit Your Money?
Naming beneficiaries for your assets has been one strategy for minimizing probate proceedings.
Periodically reviewing the beneficiary designations on 401k plans, IRAs, Life Insurance, Annuities, etc. are important steps toward ensuring a smooth transition of your assets upon death. We've seen instances where a divorced spouse, a deceased parent, or estranged sibling is still named beneficiary; when in fact the designation should have been changed following a new marriage, children, or new relationship.
Changing a beneficiary is relatively easy. But it's up to you to make sure they are accurate as your life and family changes.

Unexpected Windfall
Inheritance, Lottery Winnings, Insurance Money

Chances are you won't be winning the big jackpot in the lottery any time soon, though we can all dream. However, it's likely at some time in your life, you'll receive some money from an inheritance, an insurance settlement or perhaps a very generous gift.
If you find yourself in the lucky position of having an unexpected windfall, especially in your later years, you will want to give careful thought to what you'll do with your new wealth.
