Re-opening CLC: What to expect this Sunday
We are excited to reopen the church for services this Sunday, and wanted to fill you in on what to expect. You may personally think some of these safety measures are unnecessary, but they are in place for the safety and well-being of everyone who chooses to attend. We thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and we pray that returning to CLC together will honor the Lord.

We also realize that there are many in the church who won’t feel comfortable returning yet. We plan to Livestream the service for the first time using Facebook live, beginning at 10:30am each Sunday. This is the first time we have attempted Facebook live and we will improve video quality and audio over time.

If you want to watch the service from home

Facebook Live broadcast
On Sunday at 10:30 a.m., you can visit www.facebook.com/clcsantacruzca and click on the Facebook Live link that will appear on the page. The service will be broadcast live for the first time, so the quality may not be quite what you're used to. Please bear with us! Also, please note that Facebook Live is different than the CLC Youtube channel which we have been using since coronavirus began for pre-recorded services.

If you plan to attend on Sunday

When you arrive
  • You’ll be asked to put your mask on (Young children won’t need to wear masks).
  • You’ll cleanse your hands with sanitizer.
  • There will be a contactless temperature check administered.
  • An usher may help seat you in the sanctuary to ensure that your group sits at least six feet apart from other groups. We encourage families to sit together.
  • We will ensure that guests have signed in for contact tracing.

The church facility
  • For the first few weeks of returning, we want to be particularly safe as we adjust to meeting again.
  • Please pay attention to signage in the church
  • The upstairs will be completely closed.
  • No refreshments will be served prior to the service.
  • Please respect common social distancing guidelines while inside.
  • Please wear your mask while inside.
  • There is a locked box in the back of the sanctuary for tithes and offerings.

During the service
  • Families with children may be seated at tables in the sanctuary. There will be activity bags for the kids!
  • Worship will be different than usual because of how the virus spreads. Please refrain from signing, and rather meditate on the words, or hum along. This is a big change for many of us, but indoor singing has shown to be one of the ways the virus spreads in groups.
  • The pastor and worship leader may not wear masks while leading, but they will maintain at least 6-feet of distance between themselves and others.

After the service
  • We’ll usher everyone out of the building to the parking lot. If you choose to visit with each other, the outdoors is a safer environment.

It will certainly seem different to sit together with masks on, unable to sing. However, it will be wonderful to be together again and to begin to figure out how to gather during coronavirus.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email info@clcsantacruz.org or call the church  (831) 295-5733 and they will be promptly answered.
A note from Pastor Scott
Greetings CLC Family,

There is much to give thanks for just as the psalmist (106:1) reminds us to do in giving praise back to God. We plan on doing just that on Sunday as we reopen the church for gathered worship. I’m wondering, with the recent surge of new cases, if changes will come yet again. Regardless, we can give thanks for our candidate & his family, and our CLC family moving forward.

I received a friendly card this week that really encouraged me. Not only was it nice to be ‘remembered’ during the time apart, but a prayer was written as well. I’ll share part of it (replace your name with mine) as a reminder for us to continue to greet & encourage each other during this time apart. Thank you God for friends.

“Lord God, may Scott know your presence like the breath in his own lungs. May he see your love & continue to run after it even as it is planted in him. Give him words to offer to those around him & ears to listen. Surprise him with joy. May his family be a space of peace & laughter. Remind him of his own deep value. Amen.”

Thank you for continuing to encourage and care for one another, and me.

blessings,
Pastor Scott
