INSPECT & TEST YOUR SYSTEM

Take a few minutes to inspect all door/window sensors and motion detectors to ensure they remain properly in place and are free of dust and debris (this can reduce false alarms).

Though your system has recently been activated, EMC Security recommends performing a monthly test to ensure all sensor signals are being received properly.

NOTIFY EMC SECURITY OF ANY CHANGES TO YOUR WIFI OR PHONE SYSTEM

This is so important because if you make any changes to the security system communication method (wifi, internet, phone line, etc) your alarm connection could be interrupted.*

CHECK THE KEYPAD CODE
 
The keypad code is the most powerful part of your system. If you need to change your code, make sure everyone that uses the system is informed of the change to prevent a false alarm. If compatible, assign each family member their own code.
 
If you have to give access to someone while you are not home, create a separate code and disable it immediately after use.
IS YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION AND EMERGENCY CONTACT LIST ACCURATE?

Emergency contacts are listed in order of preference and receive a call (or text) in order when an alarm is triggered. So it's important to keep them up to date. The email on your account should also be current in case there is an issue with your system, such as a low battery or a sensor out of place, we can reach you.

OPT-IN TO TEXT-ALERT

If you don't already use it, consider opting-in to our free EMC Text-Alert service. In the event of an alarm signal, you'll receive a text that allows you to connect to your emergency contacts to discuss. There you can immediately dispatch or dismiss the alarm.
