What to Expect from EMC Security - Yrs 10

INSPECT & TEST YOUR SYSTEM

Take a few minutes to inspect all door/window sensors and motion detectors to ensure they remain properly in place and are free of dust and debris (this can reduce false alarms).

EMC Security recommends performing a monthly test to ensure all sensor signals are being received properly.

CHECK SYSTEM BATTERIES

Your system has a backup battery to account for power outages, and it might also have batteries in the components, control panel and smoke detectors.

By now, you probably have changed a battery or two because batteries will need replaced every 3 to 5 years (depending on how often the system is in use, ).

If you do experience a low battery, in most cases, your system will send a low battery signal (keypad will chirp) and you will receive an email with details on the replacement. You may also call 770-963-0305 for assistance.

DO YOU HAVE MONITORED SMOKE DETECTORS?

The National Fire Protection Association recommends replacing your smoke detectors every 10 years.

NOTIFY EMC SECURITY OF ANY CHANGES TO YOUR WIFI OR PHONE SYSTEM

This is so important because if you make any changes to the security system communication method (wifi, internet, phone line, etc) your alarm connection could be interrupted.*

IS YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION AND EMERGENCY CONTACT LIST ACCURATE?

Emergency contacts are listed in order of preference and receive a call (or text) in order when an alarm is triggered. So it's important to keep them up to date. By now, you might have some changes in your life since you activated your system, so it's a good time for an update.

The email on your account should also be current in case there is an issue with your system, such as a low battery or a sensor out of place, we can reach you.

OPT-IN TO TEXT-ALERT

If you don't already use it, consider opting-in to our free EMC Text-Alert service. In the event of an alarm signal, you'll receive a text that allows you to connect to your emergency contacts to discuss. There you can immediately dispatch or dismiss the alarm.
