It was just another Wednesday...

Greetings!
We just held Snapshot Day on Wednesday, February 15. We picked that day because we were doing what we usually do: We held educational, interesting, and entertaining events, and gave people a safe and welcoming place to do research, homework, or just read.
The snapshots below chronicle that Wednesday. There was "Art with Liz Ndoye" at the Main Branch, "Bilingual Story Time" at the Branch at 124 Grand Street, "After School @ The Learning Center" at 401 Harrison Street, and and a Teen Event -- this time, Black History Month Trivia -- in the TeenZone. We brought out some photo frames, and had fun with them. I hope you'll enjoy the snaps.
Special Women's History Event: In March, we'll celebrate Women's History Month, and there's a special event that happens on Wednesday, March 1. It's an Art Lecture and Workshop with Liz Ndoye, featuring the Brooklyn-based artist Xaviera Simmons. Space is limited for this session, so I encourage you to register soon.
What's your next read? The non-fiction adult selections in this eNews focus on emotional health, while our Young Adult and Children's choices spotlight nutritional health. To reserve any of these titles, click on the link next to the book.
Getting Museum Passes is now easier than ever. Reserving a Museum Pass is now as easy as reserving a book online. Simply go to our new Museum Pass page to plan your next museum visit.
Regards,
Jennie Pu

The Chinese Groove
by Kathryn Ma

"Eighteen-year-old Shelley, born into a much-despised branch of the Zheng family in Yunnan Province and living in the shadow of his widowed father's grief, dreams of bigger things. Buoyed by an exuberant heart and his cousin Deng's tall tales about the United States, Shelley heads to San Francisco to claim his destiny, confident that any hurdles will be easily overcome by the awesome powers of the "Chinese groove," a belief in the unspoken bonds between countrymen that transcend time and borders"-- Provided by publisher.

Here are some of our favorite Snapshot Day pictures
At the Main Branch, Yoga instructor Jane (left) led 20 or so people in "Everyone Can Do Yoga."
Local artist Liz Ndoye focused her weekly art workshop at the Main Branch on Torkwase Dyson, a Brooklyn-based artist.
Two of the attendees of Liz Ndoye's class learned about Dyson's themes of environmental justice and abstract drawing.
Every Wednesday, the Branch at 124 Grand Street offers "Bilingual Story Time." These two youngsters cannot wait for the story to start.
"After School @ The Learning Center" -- 401 Harrison Street -- on this Wednesday gave young Ethan a chance to show his artistic abilities.
"Black History Month Trivia" was an educational event on Snapshot Day in the TeenZone at Library Annex 1, 256 Fifth Street.
So many people shared the fun of our February 15th Snapshot Day with us that we wanted to share that joy of these pictures with you. There are photos from all three library branches -- 500 Park Avenue, 124 Grand Street, and the Learning Center at 401 Harrison Street. We even received a picture from the TeenZone next to the Main Branch. Our thanks to all who took part, and to those who took and shared these snapshots.
