October 2016 edition:
Reminders all around of what we're all about

After a decade of financial education programs, there is no shortage of inspiring stories from our teens, volunteers and supporters. The start of the new school year brought with it inspiration from a long-time volunteer as well as a new "coach" at North Division High School.

Volunteer Money Coaches got serious with students at North Division about their involvement. Coach Sophia Wilder ( pictured, standing far right) gave an impassioned plea in their first session:  "I care about this ZIP code. My mom is an alum of North Division, so is half of my family. It's important for me to see people within this ZIP code thrive. You've got to want it badly for yourself. It will take hard work, determination, blood, sweat and tears. But we believe in you."

Separately, long-time volunteer Bernie Fiedler (bottom rightcharmed us in this recent blog with anecdotes from his fun, enlightening Money Sense lessons at Franklin and Kettle Moraine high schools.
Money Coach kicked off for more than one dozen students at North Division H.S. in Milwaukee. Volunteers at the school are, from left, Jayme Montgomery, Pam Cain-Henry and Sophia Wilder.

On the air: Brenda Campbell talks teen financial skills on WTMJ

Prominent radio host Derrell Connor talked about the importance of teen financial literacy with our CEO and President Brenda Campbell. In a radio segment earlier this month, Brenda shared our origins and the reasons financial education makes the biggest impact with teens.
"We're trying to catch them at an age where this is relevant, but before they've made mistakes," Campbell said.

Please help us celebrate our 10th anniversary!

Here's to betting big on our community!

Improving financial education is one of the many important ways to lift up lives in our community. This month, we're spotlighting Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Heart of Canal for their support of financial education and a slew of other initiatives for Wisconsin's youth. Heart of Canal's support mirrors our vision of communities made stronger through education and empowerment.
