Important dates

FALL 2020
October 26-30: Fall Mid-term Break
November 2, 2020: Last day to drop fall term and multi term classes without financial penalty
November 2, 2020: Last day to drop without academic penalty
November 7, 2020: Last day to submit exam accommodation requests (If applicable)
December 7, 2020: Classes end
December 10 - 23, 2020: Exam Period

Winter 2021 course enrolment in SOLUS

Please note that during this time, students are not able to add, drop or swap winter term classes. Access to your Winter Term course enrolments will reopen on Monday, November 9, 2020.

Please note: Students may still drop Fall term courses during the SOLUS suspension between September 23 and November 8. 
Time to check in

How are your classes going so far? Do you have questions? Join our mid-term check in session on Tuesday, October 20 at 12pm EST or Wednesday, October 21 at 7pm EST to connect with ASO, each other, and ask any questions you have. We'd love to check in with you and see how you're doing so far in the term.

Peer Mentor Program

New to online learning? Would you like to get words of wisdom, tips and tricks from other students about online learning? Our peer mentor program provides students with an opportunity to interact with experienced online learners who can support you in your online learning journey.

Career Services workshops

Looking to improve your resume? Get tips on interview skills? Attend virtual career fairs? Build your professional network? Queen’s Career Services offers a wide variety of weekly virtual workshops, webinars and events. As a Queen’s student you have access to their events and workshops calendar. To access the Queen’s Career Services event calendar, follow these steps:

Student Academic Success Services resources
 
Appointments:
 
SASS continues to offer all of its one-on-one appointments through video conferencing software specially designed for writing and academic skills support. Students can book appointments with our team of professional staff and senior student volunteers at http://queensu.mywconline.com. Appointments are available every day of the week and throughout the day. Options include:
 
  • Learning strategies: to discuss time management, reading, notetaking, exam prep and test anxiety, focus, motivation, etc.
  • Writing: to work on written essays, reports, and papers in any discipline and at any stage of the writing process.
  • English as an additional language: to work with a specialist on speaking, writing, reading and listening skills for university-level work.
 
Appointments are free and available to all Queen’s students, including part-time and distance students.

Most students find that they fall behind in one or more courses. It’s never too late to get back on track, so our Peer Learning Assistants have designed this class to answer your questions and produce a plan of action.


Academics 101:
 
Academics 101 is a series of free self-study online tutorials designed to help students enhance their academic skills. In seven short sessions, you’ll learn the basic skills needed to master online learning and excel throughout your time at Queen's. You can work through each section at your own pace and at any time.

  • University expectations
  • Time management
  • Reading and notetaking
  • Math skills for university
  • Academic writing 
  • Exams and tests 
  • The first six weeks of the semester

Contagion Culture Lecture Series

This series is a Faculty of Arts and Science collaboration which helps to make sense of this pandemic through the expertise and insights of Arts and Science faculty members.

The series is live-streamed on Zoom every Tuesday at 4:00 PM EDT/EST.

The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office at Queen’s University is expanding their communications. You can now find them on Instagram here (*new*), and Facebook here where they share education, resources, and information about upcoming events.
 
The SVPRO is also starting a newsletter which will contain survivor centric self-care tips and resources as well as education and upcoming events happening on campus in the realm of Gender Based Violence Prevention.
