Wheeler's Values In Action | | We're a Health Center and a Lot More | | Representative Hayes Visits Waterbury Family Health & Wellness Center | | We were honored to host Rep Jahana Hayes (CT-05) for a tour of our Waterbury Family Health & Wellness Center last week, sharing Wheeler's approach to integrated health care and how we're serving the state and the Waterbury community. On behalf of the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut, we also presented her with a Community Health Center Advocate Award for her commitment to the care provided at federally qualified health centers, which serve 452,000 people across Connecticut every year! | | Support for Walk With Me in New Britain | | |
Wheeler received a $6,000 grant from the Community Chest of New Britain and Berlin, Inc., a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, to support its Walk With Me program in New Britain. This grant, the second from this organization, will be used to support the work of a peer support specialist and enhance and expand parent/caregiver services for LGBTQIA+ families.

| | Children in Our Foster Care Programs Felt the Love | | |
Three local organizations recently donated items to support children and youth in our Foster Care program. In the first photo, our staff were so excited to receive a generous donation of sunglasses, jewelry, hair ties, and notebooks from the Cromwell Walmart, gifts that will brighten the days of children in our foster care programs.
The outpouring of love continued as Wheeler staff, volunteers, and youth from Homes with Hope’s HEAL program came together to create heartfelt valentines for the children we serve.
Lastly, at the end of January, our friends at ESPN donated 90 painted "Sweet Case" bags for children in our foster care programs. Each bag contained toys, care items, and activities to help children during transitions.

| | Practical Work Experience for Our Prevocational Students | | |
Our Northwest Village School’s prevocational program provides practical work experience for our students at several local community locations. A few locations include Avery's Soda in New Britain, Camp Pickleball, Gnazzo's Food Center in Plainville, Hungerford Nature Center & New Britain Youth Museum, and Lessard Lanes in Plainville.

| | Community Justice Open House in Meriden | | |
Our community justice team at 130 Research Parkway, Meriden, held an open house at the end of January, educating referrers, funders, community partners, and Wheeler staff about our wide range of services that support individuals reentering the community after incarceration or involved in court diversion programs.
