We have a voice in the laws that govern us. Laws affect all aspects of our lives directly and indirectly. Our elected representatives and senators are the people who make the laws. As a lawyer who advocates for fairness, equity, and equality who also serves as the Voter Education Co-chair of When We All Vote Palm Beach County, and as a female citizen who knows the importance of having a voice no matter how soft, I ask that you vote.
Your vote is where our legal voice lies and has the highest value. Each person’s vote has such a high value in law-making decisions including criminal sentencing, discriminatory practices of banking, housing, employment, wages, immigration, taxation, child care, business loans, health care, freedoms, and much more. Don’t allow someone else to have your vote and take your voice.
Last week I had the opportunity to moderate an education summit regarding changes to voting rules in Florida. These new rules will affect the upcoming election. If you missed the panel, please watch the replay below. Please note: due to the passing of U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings, a special election will be held Tuesday, November 2 for Florida's 20th Congressional District. District 20 includes cities in parts of Palm Beach and Broward Counties.
