Boy Scouts Making Some Changes
For over a century, the Boy Scouts have been a male-only organization, but that’s changing. Following a unanimous vote, the Boy Scouts will now allow girls to join their ranks. They will also change their name to Scouts BSA. This summer, 7-10 year olds will be able to join the Cub Scouts, the junior program for the Boy Scouts. Other ages will be able to join shortly after. The Girl Scouts, who’ve held a rocky relationship with the Boy Scouts, says they feel blindsided by the inclusivity.
Deadpool Takes Over
Marvel’s second installment of Deadpool is on the horizon and it’s been doing some very Deadpool advertising. The character is one of the only characters in the Marvel Universe that is known to break the 4th wall, or engage with the audience directly in the middle of a scene. Now that creative approach has taken over for the film’s guerilla marketing. Of course, Deadpool himself has done all of it, and most of it is great cross marketing. Currently he’s taken over 7/11, removed the SLUR from Slurpee, stacked the chimichangas to the roof, and made pizzas that look like his face. He’s also teamed up with Trolli, the chewable candy company, to make tiny hands, a call to a memorable scene from the first film.
Budweiser Goes Big For World Cup
When it comes to sports, Budweiser does not shy away. So when it comes to the World Cup, you can bet that they’re going big. TheDrum tells us that although the total amount of the budget was not released, this will be AB InBev’s biggest ad spend ever. The company plans on making a major impression on the 3.2 billion people that will be watching the games. Budweiser has been the official beer partner of the World Cup since 1986.

Google Stuns With AI Demo
Google has been working on AI and deep learning programs for many years. They held a demo recently showing off their latest development. The demo showcased two real, unique phone calls where the AI called for an appointment at a hair salon and a reservation at a restaurant. An AI that makes phone calls for you is awesome enough, but the AI’s ability to improvise and pick up on tone and information is surreal.

Uber Looking To The Sky

Uber has quickly climbed the ranks of taxi services around the nation, sometimes, putting taxi fleets out of business. Now, Uber is looking to utilize the sky with air taxis. TechCrunch tells us that it’s currently just a concept, but the design and the motivation behind the project is very much real. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi says, “We want to create the network around those vehicles so regular people can take these taxis in the air for longer distances when they want to avoid traffic at affordable prices.”
Facebook Looking At A Paid Version
Following the massive Facebook data leak, the company has been toying with the idea of a paid version. This model would allow users to subscribe monthly to the platform and remove ads from their feed. Hopefully, this would also limit the amount of data Facebook needs to collect and sell in order to stay in business. The news comes just after the release of a new dating application which has many users puzzled. Despite the Cambridge Analytica scandal, the new app requests more personal information.
One of the most powerful words in advertising is FREE. But with the barrage of "free offers" consumers are under, they're wary of the fine print. Placing free on a product may need a bit of support to get customers enticed by the offer.

Our client, SCE Federal Credit Union, wanted to promote their Free Checking account. It was important to us that members and residents knew SCE FCU wasn't kidding when they said free. We designed a mailer that was sent to members that did not have a checking account with SCE FCU, and non members in the areas they serve. The mailer was reinforced with Facebook Ads that ran in the same target radius. We also produced a radio ad and created in-branch collateral that had fun with a little word play.
