When God Makes a Promise
When God made a promise to Abraham, because he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, saying, "I will surely bless you and multiply you. (Hebrews 6:13)
When God makes a promise, we can believe that it will be kept. We should have no doubt that God will keep His promise and do what He says He will do. God's promises are not always fulfilled when we want or expect them to be fulfilled. However, they are fulfilled in God's own time. God knows the best time to act.
The promises God makes to us today are based on the same promises He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He made a covenant with them that their descendants will have riches, land, and be blessed.
God swore by His promise and since there is no one greater than God, He swore by Himself. A man might break his promise to you. A woman might break her promise to you. When God makes a promise, He doesn't break it. Instead, He keeps it.
All of God's promises are "Yea" and "Amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20-21). So, who are you going to believe and trust . . . people's promises that might not come to pass or those made by God that will surely come to pass?
