Community showed up in a big way this season! Sixty volunteers came together to build 20 toy boxes and two playhouses, all filled with donated toys that will surprise and delight families across Greater Los Angeles.

As we head into a new year, we’re doubling down on our mission to help more Angelenos become homeowners. In 2026, our Programs team will roll out new education resources designed to walk future homeowners through the Habitat LA homebuying journey—step by step, no guesswork required.

This summer, one Habitat LA partner homeowner received the keys to a dream years in the making.
After spending more than a decade in a small apartment, weighed down by rising rent and the cost of living, Renen S. held onto hope. He applied to Habitat LA’s Homeownership Program in 2023, became a proud U.S. citizen in 2024, and after persistence, patience, and countless steps forward—he finally came home.
That home meant more than ownership. It meant stability. It meant reuniting with his mother, who had been living alone in the Philippines. It meant relief from constant uncertainty and the foundation for a future built on security and love.
“This is not just a house,” he shared. “It is the dream I worked for—the place where family and love grow.”
