Growing Older and Getting Wiser.....

June 13th and 14th was a special day for many local youth in Humboldt County.  Several of our Club members were promoted from 5th grade and 8th grade. Congratulations to all of our graduates! Sites celebrated with BBQing and cake.

Our Teen Court Program led a "Know Your Rights" workshop at our McKinleyville Teen Center.  Members enjoyed performing skits and answering true or false questions as they learned the difference between security guards, school security and the police department.

Our Teen Court program received $2,500 from the Bar Association! They have financially supported our program since 2011.Thank you for investing in our youth!
Appreciation Party
Teen Court staff really appreciate all that our teen volunteers do for the program. Without them, we could not do what we do! We celebrated together over pizza and drinks.

Youth Leaders tabled at Outer Space, which was holding an Alternatives Fest. It was a great opportunity to connect with youth regarding all of the positive activities going on in Humboldt.

Eureka Teen Center's Nutrition Club enjoys preparing healthy meals. Members chose to cook marinated beef over a bed of  lettuce, onions, carrots and bell peppers. They did a wonderful job        and had a blast making it.

Thank you DHHS and it's CalFresh program for supporting our Nutrition, Triple Play and Gardening programs.
Our staff  are trained to help our community members sign up for CalFresh Benefits.

Our first week of summer, at the Clubhouse, was jam packed with science experiments! We talked about the chemical reaction that happens when making slime, and then we got to make our own out of glue, contact solution, and baking soda.

2019 Club Projects

Lead by, the one and only, John McBeth from O&M Industries, our Eureka Teen Center Building Renovation project has gained lots of momentum! From windows and framing, painting and electrical, to heating and plumbing, flooring and even a new parking lot, our local business community has been extremely supportive in donating their precious time and in some cases materials too!
At our Clubhouse w e are still looking to repaint the interior walls, replace the dirt/patches of grass with AstroTurf  and finish the paving project.

In partnership with McKinleyville Community Service District, our McKinleyville Teen Center has a beautiful sound proof music room. We are looking to beef up our instrument collection and put in recording equipment, so that our youth can learn and enjoy making their own work of art.

If you are interested in helping with any of these projects, please contact our administrative office at (707) 441.1030.

Eureka Teen Center
Program Assistant
Hello, my name is Ma Selene Salazar; the first name is pronounced like the month of May. I am from Southern California from a small town called Hemet. I moved up to Humboldt in 2016 to pursue a degree in criminal justice. I quickly learned that I would fit better in a psychology program since it interested me a lot. I have been studying psychology for three years now with a minor in journalism. I like to listen and help anyway I can, I strongly believe that communication is the best form of expression. My favorite past times are taking photographs, painting, doodling, reading, and watching and analyzing movies. I hope that I can positively impact the lives of those I encounter in hopes of a better tomorrow.
