Dear Friend of RAIN,

Across the Sahel and Sahara, women are holding their communities together amid growing climate, economic, and social challenges. As mothers, herders, gardeners, and entrepreneurs, their leadership shapes the future of their families and communities every day.

One of these women is Algoubass, a herder in the community of Dabaga and a participant in RAIN’s sustainable herding and savings-and-loan programs.

At the start of the school year, Algoubass sold part of her herd so her children could stay in school, two daughters in secondary school and a son in primary school. When illness prevented her from working for two months, her remaining income became a lifeline, covering medical care she otherwise could not afford.

With training and support from RAIN’s community-based field agents, Algoubass is securing her family’s future with dignity and independence.

Her story reflects the impact of women’s leadership across Niger.

In 2025, with your support:

  • 84 women gardeners grew nutritious food for their families and neighbors
  • 600 women entrepreneurs increased household incomes
  • 170 women mentors helped more than 800 students stay in school
  • Women led local water committees, protecting access to clean water

RAIN supports hundreds of women like Algoubass, building resilience in the Agadez region, one decision, one harvest, and one child at a time.

As we look toward 2026, we invite you to stand with these women leaders by supporting RAIN. We hope to raise $75,000 to close our operating gap and begin the new year strong. I know it is possible with your generous support.

Your year-end gift of $100, $250, $500, $1,000, or more helps ensure women and families across Niger have the resources they need to thrive.

Every contribution, at any level, directly strengthens the resilience of women and families across Niger.

Together, we can honor and uplift the women whose courage and leadership light the way forward.

With deepest appreciation,

Sylvain Browa
